Hello Everyone,

Are you receiving e-mail notifications about your S-user ID reaching expiry?  These notifications are about S-user ID Lifetime.

This blog-post will give you more insight on how to extend the expiry date of your S-user ID and prevent your S-user ID from expiring.

An S-user ID is a unique identifier that allows you to login to your SAP ONE Support Launchpad to report an incident, download software, generate license keys, configure connections, and more. Your S-user ID contains the letter ‘S’ followed by numbers (e.g. S0xxxxxxxxx).

With S-user Lifetime, S-user IDs now have an “expiry date” which your company Super administrator can easily extend.

What happens if the administrator does not intervene in time before the expiry date is reached for the affected S-user ID? An S-user ID will first be deactivated (set to expired) and, in a second step, even deleted.

If you have received the notification, it means that the Super Administrator of your company is responsible for extending the S-user IDs Lifetime.

Continue reading below to learn what actions you can take to extend your S-user lifetime.

Next Course of action:

You can send a request to extend the expiration date of your own S-user ID to an administrator as below:

Logon the SAP ONE Support Launchpad User Profile. Click on the Information (i)-Button next to User Status.

Then click on the Company’s administrators or Request form.

Note: This does not apply to the SAP Universal ID as they do not expire.

What about freelance independent contractors?  They are not the Super Administrator of the Customer Number which issued their S-number?  A CIC suggested I email sapcontractcenter@sap.com with my query but I have not heard back from them in over a week.

Hello Declan,

Any update on your side? I encounter the same issue. My id has been expired in Feb while they do not respond to my emails. I felt rather frustrated and disappointed about that.

Cathy, I got this update from one of the support centres:

--

Thank you for contacting SAP Support.

As you may be aware there was a process change with SAP last year regarding S user IDs.

They are now split into two different types of S users.
One type has access to training and certifications.

The other type will be able to access the SAP Launchpad to access SAP Notes and technical assistance.
However, these types of S users are only possible if the S user ID is linked to a customer number with active installations and an active contract with SAP.

SAP Education Department no longer provides the roles to access SAP Support Portal to independent Users.

[snip]

For external consultants such as yourself, these are the possible options for you to continue with access to SAP Portals.

  • Independent SAP certified consultants should access SAP Training Portal <https://training.sap.com/> and/or SAP Community <https://www.sap.com/community.html>. They can register themselves or use the user ID received after the certification. Use SAP Community for open technical support and queries about SAP products.

[snip]

TL;DR it appears to be 1) Tough 2) If you have a recent - still valid - certification explore that route, or 3) Get a new S-number from your current project.

Hello Declan,

Thank you very much for your prompt help. Without your sharing, I would never get a chance to see their response.

I have sent them emails 3 times, but no feedback. The reason to keep this account ID is to access Notes. Actually I do not expect them will respond because I know only customers can generate revenue.

Again, thank you very much.

This decision to leave freelance consultants (many) without S User has, of course, consequences on the quality and efficiency of the work that these consultants can offer and, as a consequence, in the work offered by them to end customers.
This is at least the impression I have on how it will affect me.

Hello,

I'm not directly impacted by this, but I find it bad news for consultants who are independent of customer/consulting.

I don't know how many will be impacted by it, but I find it not nice specially for people that pursued certification in SAP products. The tehcnical information available for several productis is only through notes.

SAP, please review this decision. Many consultants will be impacted. Like me, we will have difficulty, for example, consulting SAP Notes (Support Launchpad).

I had a certification associated with a user ID for a company and that user is now expiring. What should I do in this case since I no longer work for that company ?

Thanks.

Hi SAP Team,

Request you to kindly roll back this decision and help us to continue with existing S user Id as the same is very helpful to provide the quality consulting to our SAP client and business partner.

Thanks and Regards,

I had a certification associated with a user ID for a company and that user is now expiring. How do I extend my validity as I am no more with that Old company. This is a bad approach by SAP.
