Predictive Accounting for Travel and Expense Management in SAP Concur

With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, predictive accounting in SAP S/4HANA Cloud provides even more cost transparency by integrating with Travel and Expense Management in SAP Concur. The beauty of this is that you can easily forecast which impact of business trips of your employees will have on the budget which has been allocated to your cost centers and projects.

The process works as follows: When a travel request in SAP Concur is created, SAP S/4HANA Cloud automatically creates predictive journal entries in a special extension ledger and performs real-time checks regarding cost center or project budgets. Later on in SAP Concur, when the expense reports with reference to the respective travel requests are created, the system automatically reverses the simulated postings of the travel requests and posts the expense reports.

Enhanced Automated Provisioning via SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance

With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, the number of supported HR events in SAP SuccessFactors that can trigger the automated provisioning of business users and roles from SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance to SAP S/4HANA Cloud has been extended by international transfers, global assignments, concurrent employments, and contingent workers.

If you are interested in more information around the integration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance and the automated user and role provisioning, I highly recommend you to check out my blog on Governance, Risk, and Compliance in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 which provides further information on Enhanced Automated Provisioning via SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance.

Extended Privacy Risk Detection with SAP Privacy Governance

Privacy risk detection with SAP Privacy Governance is about detecting breaches against data privacy regulations in SAP S/4HANA by integrating SAP S/4HANA Cloud with SAP Privacy Governance. With 2005, we stared by supporting the processing of sales order and HR data.

With 2008, we have added additional detection scenarios for purchase orders, purchasing info record and info types. So this means, you can:

  • Detect Purchasing InfoRecords which are not destroyed correctly based on the retention rules.

  • Detect list of Purchase Orders which are not destroyed correctly based on the retention rules

  • Check whether ILM policy/rule has been setup for Infotypes containing personal data.

If you are interested in more information around the integration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Privacy Governance, I recommend you to check out my blog on Governance, Risk, and Compliance in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 which provides further information on Extended Privacy Risk Detection with SAP Privacy Governance.

SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration

As this might be of interest to you as well, I would like to make you aware of an excellent blog if you are interested in learning more about SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service. It is called SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration – sharing and synchronizing master data in the integrated... by Rui Nogueira.

Localization

New Starter Pack for Select Countries

The localization coverage of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 is pretty impressive by now as we offer 43 local versions along with 25 languages. For this reason, the focus has shifted since the last two releases to delivering so-called starter packs for select countries. You might remember that with 2002 and 2005, we delivered several ones of these starter packs already. New with this release is Mauritius.

Fig. 2: With the 2008 release, the location coverage regarding SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud comprises 43 local versions, 23 starter packs, and 25 languages.

Maybe some words about starter packs as they differ from local versions: They come with a basic list of scope items that cover business processes from finance, sales, procurement, as well as professional services. They are part of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud subscription and therefore come with no additional cost for you. If you're interested to see a comprehensive list of the scope items that are included with the starter packs, you can check out SAP Innovation Discovery. What is important to know about starter packs is that they don't offer country/regional-specific legal requirements. However, for supported scenarios (such as compliance reporting for example), you can leverage the Localization Toolkit for SAP S/4HANA Cloud to extend the solution with it.

So far, the scope of the starter packages was fixed. In the meantime, this has changed. If you are interested to see a detailed list illustrating which scope items is included in which starter pack, you can check out the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Customer Community in the section Local Solutions for Global Success.

Master Data

Rule Mining in Data Quality Management with SAP Master Data Governance

Companies require capabilities to control and manage the data quality of key master data objects such as business partner and product data. In order to achieve this, we deliver capabilities to define, enforce, monitor and improve the quality of business partner and product data.

The new functionality with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 enables the master data steward to get and keep the master data clean and gives them a handle to define, enforce, monitor and improve the quality of business partner and product data based on a rule repository and related data quality evaluations. Data quality rules are essential in these processes to achieve high-quality master data.

Rule mining for master data supports business / master data experts in analyzing existing master data by proposing detected patterns as rules derived from machine learning. So the rule mining scans all the data, identifies patterns and by the machine learning algorithm creates rules automatically for master data experts.

Migration Cockpit

Combined Approach in New Fiori App

The next highlight that I would like to illustrate for SAP S/4HANA Coud 2008 is about Migration Cockpit.

As you know, SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit facilitates the transfer of business data from a source system to an SAP S/4HANA system and the source system can be SAP but also non-SAP legacy systems.migration cockpit uses migration objects to identify and transfer the relevant data. The migration process via migration cockpit provides two different migration approaches. You can either transfer your data using files or you can transfer the data using staging tables. Up to 2005, you could choose one of these approaches and as of 2008, we have combined the two approaches in a new Fiori UI using staging tables. S/4HANA Migration Cockpit includes by now, more than 145 migration objects. From a drop-down list you can flexibly execute actions for the migration for your migration objects in a guided procedure. So the system guides the user and proposes the next steps to be performed.

Responsibility Management

Business Background and Capabilities

As this is the first time that Responsibility Management is covered in this blog series, I will start off with a bit of background information on the topic. In today's word, where we are dealing with more and more automation and intelligent scenarios, responsibility identification has become more and more important. It plays an essential role in the processing of workflows to deliver the workflow items to the right recipients in the My Inbox app and it also plays a mayor role in informing the right users proactively when it comes to issues in the business processes, e.g. pending confirmations, exceeding budgets, deviating turnover rates, and material exceptions. And it is also an integral feature in context-specific filters to control visibility or to emphasize any business logic. And last but not least, it's important for user authorization. Responsibility identification is done in two ways, via teams and functions and via responsibility rules.

Responsibility management offers a lot of capabilities. You can map the right responsible members, you can map members with responsibilities, you can map authorizations to functions, model hierarchical responsibilities, model pre-configured responsibility rules and enable customers to create their own logic to determine the right responsibilities using responsibility rules.

Management of Responsibility Rules

As of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, you can benefit from this feature which allows you to use a list of standard responsibility rules delivered by SAP application teams to determine agents that are responsible for workflows, business scenarios, and situation handling. You can create or copy an existing rule and customize it to suit your business process requirements. You can also enhance a BAdI implementation with custom logic and associate it with a custom responsibility rule.

User Experience

Enhanced Structuring of SAP Fiori Launchpad with Spaces

You might remember that with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2005, we introduced a new concept for administrators allowing you to structure the SAP Fiori Launchpad with spaces and pages. With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, this has been enhanced further. the main feature was that it is now possible to consume the content of the Fiori Launchpad in a very easy and structured way thus reducing the overloading of home pages and allows the user to migrate the content much faster. If you are interested in more information on the overall concept, check out Part 2 of my 2005 Technology Topics blog and especially the chapter on of SAP Fiori Launchpad with Spaces and Pages.

Now with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, this has been enhanced further. Now, we have multiple pages per space instead of having only one page per space. This is especially beneficial for users with multiple roles. We now have a new tool to define the spaces and the menu within the space as well as the title and option to adjust it later on.

Fig. 5: With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008, administrators can define multiple pages per space for relevant business role templates
