The SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop 'A new SAP UX experience utilizing the BTP platform' took place virtually on April 11, 2024. Please find the agenda here.

This event was our second virtual event from the Nordic Premium Engagement team this spring. We had two very skilled presenters Adam Cody, Center of Expertise Expert in Customer Success and Sean Walch, Center of Expertise Expert in Customer Success presenting to you.

In the first part of the session, Adam Cody gave an overview to help our customers understand the importance of SAP UX Adoption Planning. The main point raised was that SAP Fiori is the main go-to user interface of SAP S/4HANA and customers who intend to continue to use SAP GUI as their primary UI will only gain a very limited benefit from the innovations in SAP S/4HANA.

Adam described how UX is delivered by SAP in collections known as SAP Business Roles and customers should adopt these templates and then refine them as a starting point to creating their own unique custom business roles. Adam went on to describe the main mix and match adoption strategies for SAP Fiori where it is recommended to adopt and roll out SAP Fiori through a “showcase first” approach to target specific high value innovations and then grow the SAP Fiori coverage slowly over time. We strongly recommend customers to consider UX adoption if you want to gain more business value from your existing SAP S/4HANA systems, or you want to do more with SAP Fiori or in cases where plans are being made for the next upgrade and they are unsure of what to add next.

In the second part of the session Seán Walsh took us through some of the UX capabilities offered by SAP Business Technology Platform, in particular SAP Build Work Zone. The session walked us through the need for customers to implement a central entry point to their SAP and non-SAP business systems and the inefficiencies of the workplace where without a central entry point employees must traverse many disconnected systems to get their work done. Business users desire a unified, intelligent, workspace that enables them to get their work done and execute their tasks easily while being able to collaborate with their co-workers using a digital workplace. SAP Build Work Zone offers one user experience across the enterprise. Business users can build role specific digital workplace solutions and purpose build business sites. Adding the capabilities of SAP Mobile Start with SAP BTP then it offers the business users the ability to work efficiently if they are on the move or in the office.

In the last part of the session, Adam and Sean jointly spoke about the portfolio of services available from SAP Premium Engagement relevant to UX and highlighted a few specific services which could directly benefit customers interested in the topics described earlier.

Sean then described how the SAP UX Strategy service component initiates the transition to SAP S/4HANA by introducing the SAP Fiori user experience. User Experience is the corner stone of user productivity, satisfaction, and adoption. This is the most important factor in realizing customer value from SAP S/4HANA. SAP Fiori is the best way to consume and create UX innovation. Sean outlined how the goal of the workshop is to develop SAP customers develop a clear UX strategy (cloud, on-premise, hybrid) and support for transition to SAP Fiori. Ensuring they have a UX implementation plan with customer`s project management, business, IT, and SAP experts that will ensure successful adoption of SAP Fiori Apps. The workshop offers guidance on how to setup and implement SAP Fiori on-premise and on SAP Business Technology Platform and understand high business value topics such as SAP Fiori Development & Extensibility in addition to SAP Fiori Analytics.

In conclusion, Adam described the UX Activation & Design session focusing on a Proof of Concept (PoC) for SAP Build Work Zone which would enable an interested customer to see a live mockup of how SAP Build Work Zone could be connected to their system and how it would work along with being implemented according to SAP Best practice.
