We are thrilled to announce the new tool
SAP Commerce DB Sync has replaced the the
Commerce Migration Toolkit (CMT) used for SAP Commerce Cloud data migration.
DB Sync is designed for SAP Commerce Cloud or SAP Commerce on-prem solutions to migrate database to SAP Commerce Cloud environments or to replicate data from Commerce Cloud to an external database.
After the installation, the friendly UI appears as a component of the SAP Commerce Administration Console(hAC) and allows Customers or Partners to setup and execute the database migration at the click of a button. Data replication can be setup as a regular cronjob from Backoffice.
How does it work?
The toolkit comprises a series of SAP Commerce extensions to be installed in your SAP Commerce Cloud. It leverages the native
VPN feature that exists in the SAP Cloud Portal to ensure secure connectivity between the on-premise installation and the SAP Commerce Cloud instance.
The toolkit has a simple architecture to ensure transparency of the operations executed and provides built-in real-time reporting to check on the status of the migration process.
It supports two use-cases:
- The migration of the database in a like-for-like fashion, one environment at a time.
- Data replication to an external database. You can push data regularly in batch mode through an SAP Commerce Cloud cronjob and synchronize it to an external database. A typical use case is for analytics and reporting purposes when you need direct JDBC access to the database to run analytic jobs.

- Seamless migration from CMT to DB Sync with minimal effort
- Git repository URL change + SAP Commerce extensions names adjustment
- Finalize support for PostgreSQL database
- Can be used both as source and target
- Finalize support for MySQL database as target
- Keep internal migration related tables in Azure SQL DB when running in export mode
- troubleshooting simplification and potential performance improvement
- Fix issues with schema adjustments for HANA as target
- General bug-fixing, code refactoring and cleanup
