An S-User Id is your personal gateway to SAP for Me allowing you to create cases, request license keys, download software and more.

Read below to find out all there is to know about how to get and use your S-User ID!

What is an S-User ID and how do I get one?

An S-User is a 10-digit ID beginning with the letter ‘S’ created by the Super Administrator of your company to allow you access to the SAP Support Portal and Home - SAP for Me among other support sites. Your S-User is evidence of a support agreement with SAP.

If you do not yet have an S-User and want to know if your company has a maintenance agreement with us, you should first check your internal IT / procurement to confirm a customer (ERP) number. Alternatively, if you cannot confirm this information, contact CIC and we’ll be happy to check. Please be prepared to provide the full company name and street address for accurate results.

What can I do with an S-User?

Depending on the authorisations assigned to you by your Super Administrator, you will be able to Create caseschat with Technical ExpertsRequest License keys and more.

How can I request authorisations for my S-User?

You can use the Self-Service Authorization Request app to forward requests to your Super-Administrators. Alternatively, you can find out who your Super-Administrators are in the Important Contacts section and contact them internally.

Can I change the name on my S-User?

S-User IDs are intended to be used by one person and cannot be transferred to another individual. For this reason, its not possible for you to change the name of your S-User. A name change is only permitted when it has been misspelled, the first and last name data is transposed in the wrong fields or if your legal name has changed (e.g. marital status change)

If you need to request an edit to your name for any of these reasons, please create a case under the XX-SER-SAPSMP-USR component. Please provide your S-User ID and your requested edit along with a general reason for your name change. If you do not have the authorisations to create an case, contact us in the CIC and we’ll be happy to forward the request to our internal S-user data team on your behalf.

Important: the name of your S-User ID should correspond with that of the linked email address. Similarly, the email address domain must correspond with the company name (unless you are a Partner).

How can I edit my S-User personal data?

You’ll be able to update your phone number, email address, job title, language, time-zone and roles for your own S-User ID using the SAP for Me User Profile.

To update your SAP for Me language settings please refer to this KBA 3292024 - How to update the language displayed in SAP for Me - SAP for Me

Please check 1271545 - How to update S-user ID contact settings (phone number, e-mail address, time zone, languag... for information on how to update your preferred settings.

Please note that the Customer Interaction Center is always happy to guide you on any of the mentioned processes and assist you with any queries you may have!

Nice information.  However, I have a fun caution.   Get an S user ID.  Also have a personal ID (P user) for the SAP Community.   Set it up with your personal not professional e-mail address.  If you leave the company, all your community information will stay with our P user.   Also if you leave the company - you at this point, can't change the e-mail attached to your personal ID.  Hence use your personal e-mail.

There is an ability to link old and new accounts.   For me personally, it's annoying, and doesn't work as intended.

Just a limitation of the system that you can avoid with a P user and a personal address.

Thank you for your comment c436ae948d684935a91fce8b976e5aa7 !

It is great to receive your feedback. It is true that S-User IDs are not transferable from one company to another so it is a very good idea to use your personal email for your SAP Community Account.

Please find further information on P-Users and other User IDs in this Blog-Post

Thanks again for your contribution!

Best wishes,

Hi Chloe, thanks for your post!

I have a question regarding the S-User, maybe you can help. 🙂

I am a freelance SAP developer and therefore don't have an S-User. But sometimes that would be very helpful. For example, I wanted to download the current SAP GUI, but for this an S-user is required. 🙁

To sum up: Is there any way to get an S user as a freeelancer?

Thanks in advance and best regards!

Hi Florian!

Thank you for reading and commenting on this blog-post 🙂

S-Users can only be created under SAP Customers so it isn't possible to get an S-User ID as a freelancer, sorry about that!

The next time you are working for a registered SAP Customer you can contact us at the Customer Interaction Center and we will be able to assist you in accessing an S-User ID, for more information on the different types of user ID's please read this blog-post: https://blogs.sap.com/2021/03/10/sap-user-ids-whats-the-difference-find-out-more-here/

Thanks for you quick answer.

One more quick follow-up question regarding the "registered SAP customer" way: Isn't the s-user account then permanently linked to this customer?

Hi Florian,

No problem, that's correct that the S-User is for a specific customer and cannot be transferred to another customer however, any certifications you have can be moved from one ID to another when a new ID is created by a new SAP customer for you.

I hope this helps!

Hi Chloe,

We are support company (D) for service company (T) which is contracted with end user company (K). I use mail from service company (T) but my certificates are linked to our company (D).

So, I have S-user of my (D) company and S-user for T company. My SF certificates are related to S-user of D company only. One person but in SAP system two with different S-users.

The customer gave permission to my T company S-user to access their Provisioning.

How can I link (share) my certificates between 2 S-users (T and D) to obtain access?

Hi,

If I transfer certificate I will loose it on my own company. Right?

I need them to be linked (shared) and not transferred if it is possible.

Hi Branko,

You will need to discuss this with the Education Team as Certificates are outside the scope of the Customer Interaction Center.

If you scroll to the end of this page you can update the location and then contact your local Team:

Hi Freddy!

Apologies for the delay.

Please could you send an email to support.emea@sap.com and include your SAP Customer number. We will then be able to check if there is a maintenance agreement and also provide details of your SAP Account Executive who can help with any maintenance issues.

Best wishes,

Chloe CIC
