Newsbyte Upcoming deprecation of Integration Designer in Eclipse
As SAP Cloud Platform Integration Web UI has almost reached feature-parity with the Eclipse tooling, we are reconfirming our Web UI first strategy: There will be no further invest in the Integration Designer in Eclipse and the deprecation is planned towards the end of the year. End of live will be Eclipse 4.8 Photon release (Q2/2018).

These were the latest news and facts for the second quarter that we wanted to share with you! After that we moved to the focus topic of our session, which evolved around quite some new connectivity options for SAP Cloud Platform Integration that were delivered by our partner network as well as by SAP.

Looking at the adapter offering that is available on the SAP Cloud Platform Integration stack, SAP is happy to share the news that we can now offer four additional adapters that were developed by our partner Advantco. These additional adapters will further help our customers to optimize their integration landscape and converge towards single iPaaS strategy to connect to SAP and non-SAP applications

We concluded our session with a new, cool feature: the keystore self-service now allows tenant admins at customer site to manage the security artifacts of their tenant on their own.

Also this time, we had quite some questions in the webinar chat that we also wanted to capture here:
Q: Are the Advantco adapters available for all the customers free of cost or do we have to pay for them?
A: For all existing and new customers the four SAP OEM adapters by Advantco (SalesForce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Sugar CRM Amazon Web Services) are included in their SAP Cloud Platform, Integration subscription cost.
Q: The deployment of partner adapters (such as Advantco SalesForce adapter), will this need to be done through Eclipse or Web UI?
A: The deployment of adapters to a given tenant is part of the Adapter Development Kit which is Eclipse-based.
Q: Can the JMS adapter used with 3rd party products?
A: No, so far, the JMS adapter can only read and write from SAP’s own inbuilt broker – the SAP Enterprise Messaging.
Q: How do we add extra node to the tenant?
A: Extra nodes are only added by SAP on explicit request.
Q: Also is working threads added, can they be specific to the adapter level or applied to all at tenant level?
A: We have no active control over the threads. Typically, the system defines this based on the use of parallel processing and multicasts.
Q: If there are no entries? why queues are getting generated?
A. Because the queue is created when the integration flow is deployed.
Q: Can an iflow have multiple JMS adapters (1 sender, N receivers) accessing different queues for routing?
A: Yes, you can have multiple JMS receivers in a single integration flow. 2 integration flows cannot however read from the same Queue.
Q: Does this mean customers will be able to manage the SFTP key in the system keystore going forward?
A: Yes!
Q: You mentioned that certificates cannot be uploaded - they need to be bundled into a java keystore. When bundling root and intermediate certificates into a keystore, does the private key in the keystore need to be signed? Will Cloud Integration support self-signed certificates?
A. The private key in the keypair needs to be signed. Cloud Platform Integration does not support self-signed certificates on the sender side. On the receiver side, it is defined by the receiver.
Q: 'Replace' ...replaces all keys previously added by Tenant Administrator?
A. Yes! In case you need to only add new entries, just use the add or add with overwrite option.
Q: I don't see the Keystore tile under Manager Security. Is that because my user does not have the needed role/access?
A: You need to be a Tenant Admin to be able to maintain the keystore. To be precise, you need the role NodeManager.deploysecuritycontent.
Q: I see that I am on version 1.x, is this why I am not seeing the keystore tile?
A: Exactly! Keystore management/self-service has only been enabled on 2.0 tenants. Please check with your ops contact to know when your tenant shall be migrated to 2.0.
Q: JDBC adapter/ RFC adapter: Have they been delivered or planned for release in near future
A: The RFC adapter gets shipped this month with the July/2017 release. This initial feature scope comprises an RFC receiver adapter and it only works with the SAP Cloud Connector.
JDBC connectivity is currently planned for Q3/2017 on our roadmap.
Q: Any update on Transport Management for SAP CPI-is it planned for future release?
A: Transport of integration content using CTS+ is currently planned for Q3/2017 on our roadmap. This shall use the on-premise CTS+. We are also planning to have a cloud transport system, but this is only in discussion right now.
Q: What is the time frame for migrating 1.x tenants to 2.x tenants?
A: The migration will be conducted in a phased manner per data center. Customers will be informed on the scheduled migration date so that they can plan their operations well in advance.
Q: Is Sequential Multicast now supported in the Web UI?
A: Yes, sequential multicast is supported as of June/2017 release.
Q: Was the tracing feature of iflows in eclipse switched of due to the end of live for eclipse or is it an issue with our tenant?
A. Tracing can be enabled at an integration flow level for 10 mins. This can only be done from Eclipse so far. Even viewing the trace is also only supported in Eclipse. Tracing can only be enabled for an integration flow which has its log level set to debug – this needs to be done from the Web tooling.
Q: What is the roadmap for self-hosted Cloud Platform (and Integration) options such as AWS hosting? Previously we told that it would be coming in Q2 2017.
A: The timelines for Cloud Platform (in general) and our SAP Cloud Platform Integration might differ here. For our service, SAP Cloud Platform Integration, multi-cloud support to support infrastructure as a service offerings from different vendors is currently listed in category ‘Product Direction’ and is therefore planned to be delivered beyond 2017.
