SAP customers like Hitachi, Kapura and Ryan Specialty Group deployed SAP S/4HANA in their organizations to realize business value. Whether it was gaining instant financial insight, scaling the business without increasing administrative overhead, or merging disparate IT landscape to harmonize and optimize the business processes and management systems. Having access to a prescriptive guidance, pre-configuration and flexible tools for their S/4HANA journey was essential for their success.

SAP provides just the right content and tools in SAP Activate, innovation as a service, that enables customers to maintain agility and achieve their solution deployment objectives. SAP Activate is available to all customers and contains prescriptive guidance in SAP Activate methodology, ready-to-use business processes in SAP Model Company / SAP Best Practices and flexible apps for configuration, data migration, extensibility, integration and testing. SAP Activate leverages the pre-configuration to drive fast time to value by executing fit-to-standard workshops to determine the delta requirements to tailor the solution to customer needs. Then agile approach is followed to implement the required deltas iteratively and rapidly. Activate continues to supports SAP customers in on-going innovation of their solution as they receive regular software release upgrades and adopt new functionality.

SAP continuously invests in keeping the SAP Activate in step with the latest release of the SAP S/4HANA. Implementation guidance for SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud is updated regularly with major updates shipped with each software release and minor updates shipped regularly (for our cloud guidance it is every other week). This ensures that the guidance in SAP Roadmap Viewer and ready-to-run business processes in SAP Best Practices Explorer are always up to date.

Customers that use SAP Activate had following to say about what they value in SAP Activate:

  • “SAP Activate was helpful in guiding the implementation” — Pharmaceutical business in Europe

  • “The documentation on the Roadmap Viewer and the Best Practices Explorer are always up to date.” — Restaurant business Middle East

  • “Well documented SAP Activate and well followed by our partner” — Hospitality business in Asia

  • “SAP Activate helped us turnaround a go live for a smaller project in three months and we had no problems during the implementation.” — Software Consultancy business Europe

Recently SAP updated SAP Activate methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud and you can find more details in the blog from Dan Ciecko here and Lisa Kouch here.

These updates include brand new playbook for remote execution of fit-to-standard that I blogged about earlier here and many detailed updates to how to use pre-configuration, implementation tools and accelerators in your project. We are about to add second playbook for cutover activities done in remote or partially remote setup. Stay tuned for that update soon.

You can always get the latest SAP Activate methodology content in SAP Roadmap Viewer and if you want to stay up to date on updates we are adding to the guidance, you can follow me and my team here or join over 35 thousand Activate practitioners in SAP Activate Jam.
