Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference or WWDC for short, took place in San Jose, CA last week and for any iOS Developer it is the must attend event. In fact it is the dream ticket, quite literally as attendees are randomly drawn from a lottery to purchase their conference ticket. So once they are there, they tend to stay in WWDC and soak up as much of the keynotes, announcements and sessions as possible. I can speak from experience as I have been lucky to attend in 2010 and last year 2016, both times only stepping outside to head back to the hotel! Even so, there are alternative and external events that happen independently outside of Apple’s #1 event.

On Wednesday June 7, the Developer Relations Team and experts from SAP Labs, Palo Alto headed down to the Hyatt Place Hotel opposite WWDC for the inaugural SAP CodeJam for the SAP Cloud Platform SDK for iOS. Though this CodeJam was a little different than our traditional 5-6 hour version, it ran for 45 minutes and started again on the top of the hour.

This allowed us to coincide with the session times at WWDC. For the event, we created a special 45 minute tutorial that allowed the attendees to check out the SAP Cloud Platform, the SDK Assistant macOS, the SAP Fiori Mentor iPad App and Fiori for iOS. The data comes demo an SAP HANA MDC instance that contains data for packages & tracking entries.

We had a great and very busy day with many people coming by for the different sessions and staying longer just to explore more of the SDK or talk about scenarios and the partnership between Apple and SAP.

Stay tuned for info about future CodeJam events on SAP’s SDK for iOS in your region!
