We have heard your calls for more in-depth explanation on plug and gain-related terminologies and we are excited to deliver just that. This series will delve into some of the most prominent terms. So, gear up to power up your knowledge and get ready to plug into a wealth of knowledge like no other!
In our first blog post, we already introduced the “Best-Run Score” as well as the “Transaction and Completion Score”. This time it is all about the Process House which is the fundamental part of the Value Accelerator for SAP process landscape analysis (plug and gain approach).
The Process House is the central entry point for your SAP Process Landscape Analysis (plug and gain approach). As a first step you can analyze your company's process landscape with corresponding Best-Run Scores of your SAP Core processes (Level 1). When navigating one level down, you see a modular process view with all other out-of-the-box content and analyses (Level 2). Process models with color codes highlight the steps that contribute to effective process execution (Level 3). My Analysis begins with the Process House, with Level 1 focusing on core processes and Best-Run Scores for immediate improvement insights. The Best-Run Score gauges the effectiveness of your SAP system processes. Level 2 introduces modular process flows, and Level 3 includes process models with color-coded steps for efficient execution.
At Level 2, there's access to out-of-the-box content, analyses of the plug and gain approach, and over two hundred fifty investigations for five end-to-end processes. Additional views offer transparency into transaction and custom code statuses.
Process Execution Analysis involves analyzing processes against the reference model, saving time in S/4 Transformation. With the help of the "Best-Run Score" you can evaluate processes per process step and analyze them across company codes. Thus, you can derive internal best and worst practices, which serve as a factual basis for discussions with relevant departments.
Process Variant Analysis identifies common process variants, evaluating them based on metrics for informed decision-making with stakeholders. The as-is process model, generated as a BPMN, aids documentation and discussions.
Transaction Code Analysis measures process harmonization and analyses custom transaction codes. It identifies change management. The Transaction Score and harmonization metrics offer insights for promoting a streamlined workflow. The Transaction Code Analysis chart illustrates code usage per step, enhancing understanding of the distribution between standard and custom transaction code usage.
The Process House has three views for Level 2:
The first view allows to analyze processes from the "Best-Run Score" perspective, the second view from the Transaction Usage perspective and the third view from the Completion Score View perspective.
Under the "Best-Run Score" perspective, it indicates the organization's effectiveness in running SAP system processes based on recommendations, emphasizing superior options for accomplishing process steps. The "Completed Cases" metric signifies the total number of cases reaching the final process step within the reference period.
Within the Transaction Usage View of the Process House, the "Transaction Score" highlights the proportion of cases completed using standard transaction codes. "Transaction Harmonization" underscores the recommendation to use as few transaction codes as possible for each process step.
In the Completion Score View, "Completion Score" indicates the proportion of cases that reached the final process step within the reference period, while "Throughput Volume" reveals how many cases were collected within the respective reference period, regardless of whether they've been completed or not.
