Hi everyone,

Last week during CeBIT 2016 SAP hosted in collaboration with Volkswagen the programming competition InnoJam++ focusing on the Internet of Things and the mobility of the future powered by SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

As Stephan Brand, one of our judges, explained in his announcement post nearly 100 students from 16 countries would be competing with the main part a 30 h nonstop coding sessions from Tuesday morning through the night to Wednesday evening. On Monday Design Thinking was used in the ideation phase and on Thursday the presentations prepared and presented at the corporate stage.

The students developed many interesting applications e.g. for drivers, fleet managers, driving schools, etc. over the course of the week and showed again how easy it is to get started with SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP HANA, the Internet of Things services and SAPUI5. Some of the teams used the Internet of Things services directly but also others were provided with previously collected data by the SAP Vehicle Insights team or the Volkswagen team to feed and test their applications directly with real data.

The winning team was a group of students from the Hochschule Karlsruhe, who developed an app for driving schools based on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Volkswagen awarded team ‘Pendler’ with a special prize for their SAP HANA Cloud Platform based smart commuting app. We congratulate again all the teams for their successful participation in the competition!

All the best,

Sven
