Today SAP and Volkswagen jointly kicked-off our programming competition InnoJam++ at CeBIT2016 in Hanover. 100 international students from 20 countries are now competing in the SCALE 11 pavilion next Hall 11. The next 30 hours will see students programming live and developing prototypes for the mobility of the future– nonstop and overnight –using SAP technology, supported by SAP domain experts and Volkswagen experts.

The connected vehicle is a huge opportunity and challenge for anyone who builds, sells, operates or services a vehicle. Everyone is looking for new business models around the vehicle and mobility and has to be quick and innovative. There is a need for a platform that enables fasten development of new services, validation and – in case of success – provides the ability to scale.

SAP launches SAP Vehicle Insights in 2016. It harnesses the power of SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the Internet of Things and offers a cloud-based analytic service offering that enables a variety of scenarios and new business models for Partners, Customers, Service Providers, OEMs and Suppliers: e.g. provide insights-to-action into driver behavior patterns and driver efficiency to support more precise usage-based services and pay-as-you-drive contracting, support Fleet decision makers by correlating telematics data with geo data and business information on a large scale or let car service providers monitor live vehicle conditions and failures to support data-driven remote diagnostic scenarios.

Based on SAP Vehicle Insights and HCP, students at the CeBIT 2016 InnoJam++ will work on several challenges like designing the future driver experience in a fully connected world, creating the future KPI dashboard for fleet managers or how mobility can be supported by analytics.

On March 17 at 1:30 the students take the corporate stage in Hall 11 to present their results. Afterwards the best ideas will receive prizes. The InnoJam++ partner event with Volkswagen is part of the SAP Next-Gen Consulting offering by SAP University Alliances.

IoT Moving Assets Development perceives competitions like this an important contribution to training the next generation of junior staff for digital companies and as an ideal way to bring innovative ideas from young minds into the further development of our solutions. We are very curious about what results we will see.
