Production Operator Dashboard or POD is essentially the End User mechanism or GUI used by Shop Operators,to process production information associated with manufacturing and assembly process.
The Touch Production Operation Dashboard has been added in the SAP ME 6.1 release. The POD may be displayed and transacted upon on Touch devices including Touch Monitors and large and medium tablets.
The power of SAP Fiori can be leveraged in PODs to enhance the experience and productivity of the end-user/operator managing shop floor operations.
Fiori features that can enhance POD experience:
- Profile based login:
SAP ME classifies users as Administrators, Operators, Supervisors, Managers, Engineers. On the basis of the logged-in user and user authorizations, SAP ME
allows users to work upon operations or tasks assigned to them. With SAP Fiori, in addition to controlling access based on authorizations, home page
personalization will allow them to display the applications they use most in their daily work.
2. De-cluttered Design:
By leveraging power of Fiori, user satisfaction would be greatly enhanced through an intuitive, easy- to-use interface. Easy-to-navigate screens will help users
find what they’re looking for and respond to requests quickly. The de-cluttered design would focus on user specific tasks eliminating non-relevant
information thereby enhancing productivity.
3. Resizable windows:
Since Touch PODs are transacted upon on many devices with different screen sizes and resolution. The ability to easily re-arrange layout of screens would provide full view of Touch POD screen irrespective of device being used. The screen would readjust according to device providing great convenience to the end-user.
4. Notifications and alerts:
Users with Administrator, Manager or Supervisor roles in SAP ME might require to enable access or provide approval for other users (e.g. enabling access to ME activities for operators, approving or managing time recording of labor). This feature of Fiori would ensure quicker completion of access and approval providing tasks by using Notifications and alert feature of Fiori. The list of access and approval requests would be listed as notifications on the screen.
5. Customizable work area:
Users can customize the task area upon their discretion. This feature ensures better planning and management of tasks thereby leading to enhanced productivity.
6. Capability of visualizing information:
SAP ME provides the ability of visualizing information in POD - Visual Test and Repair (VTR) using Model Viewer. VTR allows operators to visually test and repair SFCs. Non-conformances can also be logged in VTR. Experience of using VTR can be greatly enhanced by leveraging Fiori’s graphical display.
7. New and intuitive interface:
With the new and intuitive interface user training would focus on task oriented training rather than training on how to use screens. The new interface would be easier to use for the operators.
8. Faster and Quicker access:
PODs powered by Fiori would have better performance and user experience owing to quicker response time. With faster access to information, productivity of the operators would get a boost. SAP ME PODs do not have very quick response time at present.
9. Faster touch and mouse scrolling:
POD responsive time will be greater enhanced with Fiori providing both touch and mouse scrolling.
Thus, the operability, experience and productivity of operators using PODs can be greatly enhanced by leveraging the power of SAP Fiori.
