We've received not one, but two improvement requests to enable the creation of follow-on notifications. Simply put, you want to create notifications as a direct follow-up of a maintenance order, and be able to look back on the track that lead to the creation of the notification. This is now possible! You can create a follow-on notification from a preceding order, and the system copies the technical object from the preceding order to the follow-on notification and creates a follow-on relationship between the two documents. This relationship you can then see in the document flow of both documents.

That's not all! Upon request, we also added the possibility to create a notification by simply copying the reference notification. So, if your reference notification is only used as a template, but should not have a relationship with the new notification in your business process, then you can now just copy the data and opt out of setting up the reference relationship.

The new functionality is available with SAP Note 3165720 or with the upcoming support packages of Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA 2021 and 2022. You can enable the new functionality by implementing either the SAP Note or installing the corresponding support packages, and switching on the Enterprise Asset Management Part 20 business function for the classical user interface.

For further details, please see the documentation in SAP Note 3165720 or in the SAP Help.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new functionality, so please comment if you have any questions!
