Sneak Peek into SAP Analytics Cloud release for Q1 2022
Happy New Year All!! We have an exciting year ahead for SAP Analytics Cloud, we begin with a sneak peek into some of the cool new features you will see in Q1 2022. A full list of what is coming can be found on our Roadmap Explorer or the Product Plan however in this blog I will give you a sneak peek of some of the highlights.
Administration Cockpit
You may have already seen some previews of the SAP Analytics Cloud Administration Cockpit. In Q1 2022 it is generally available to all customers. The new Cockpit provides fast and easy access to system usage information to help administrators proactively manage their SAP Analytics Cloud tenants.
This enables easier identification and reporting of:
- Authorization assignments regarding user, team, roles, sharing settings of folder, analytic applications, stories and more
- Where-used models, data actions and questions related to housekeeping
Publishing of insights to the Catalog
Creating insights has been a popular feature within SAP Analytics Cloud and in this quarter, we make these insights more accessible by enabling users to publish them to Analytics Catalog.
This enables users to:
- Find insights quickly through search and filter capabilities
- Add metadata to improve understanding of an insight
- Users can favourite insights and easily find them in “Favourites” and “Shared with me” tabs
Accessing Data Change Insights across applications on SAC Home Screen
Continuing with insights, Data Change Insights enable our analytic application users to subscribe to a chart’s top N data change insights on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Users then get notified of significant changes in the data of interest.
In Q1 2022 users can now add Data Change Insights as a tile, front and centre on the SAP Analytics Cloud home screen to include:
- Subscripted data changes across applications
- Ability to search a certain data change
- Ability to filter data changes with different criteria (top N, time range, importance, and the like)
Multi Actions – Predictive Planning
Two huge topics for our Planning users from 2021 were Predictive Planning and the introduction of Multi Actions. We teased that it was just the beginning for Multi Actions in Q3 2021 and in this quarter, we have added the ability to execute a predictive forecast within the planning workflow by adding a predictive step within a multi action.
Predictive step is now available within the multi actions designer to retrain a predictive model based on the freshest state of your data and write time series forecasts into your planning.
Some additional details can be found in the below blogs:

Data Export Open API for export
We know our planning customers often wish to include their forecasts in other applications such as S/4HANA, BW as well as third party applications.
With the new Open API for data export, planning and forecasting data can now be pulled externally from SAP Analytics Cloud, allowing easier downstream data processing operations on forecasting and planning data. Using an OData service users can browse SAP Analytics Cloud models to pull data from and the initial support includes:
- Transaction Data
- Master data of the dimensions in a model
We will be taking a deeper dive in to these items in our What’s New video and blog series so stay tuned.

Excited for the Export API's, do we know if those will have improved performance vs current model export via OData? current OData export is extremely slow when exporting to BW.
Hi Jim,
As always it depends a lot on the scenario in question. However I have spoken to our engineering team and they are seeing very promising data in their performance tests and expect the service to be faster than the current BW export.
Thanks,
Orla
Thanks for the feedback. That is good news!
There is a more detailed blog on the upcoming integration of predictive planning into multi actions. Please see here: https://blogs.sap.com/2021/11/30/automate-forecast-update-with-predictive-planning/. I am using it right now and this is very useful :-). Kind regards, Antoine
Data Export Open API for export
Using this can we export SAC planning directly to SCP HANA ? Currently we are exporting SAC Planning data from SAC Planning export to SFTP server via cloud connector then using SDI retrieving that file from SFTP to HANA, We are looking for a direct connection that we can use to import data directly to HANA from SAC Planning. Any ideas ?
Hi,
You can use SDI to directly read the data from via our data export service in SAC and move it into a HANA table.
Best regards,
Gerd
Hi Gerd,
Thanks for responding.
Can you please let me more about data export service in SAC ?
Thanks

Hi,
we are excited for the new Data Export API. Our System was updated yesterday, do you know how to access the new api? Ther is no entry in the whats new documentation.
Thanks
Hi,
The feature is shipped as a controlled release in QRC1 so it will only be visible once the corresponding feature toggle has been set.
Best regards,
Gerd
Dear Orla,
thank you for the interesting sneak peek 🙂
We also have the corresponding 2022.02 release since last week but unfortunately no further info on the new Data Export API :/
Is there any documentation or further info available?

What's New – 2022 Releases
Dear Aleksey,
i know the build in whats new pages. But there is nothing written about Data Export API?
Sebastian Sättler
yes, because Data Export API refers to the release Q1 22, the date of which is 18.02.22-20.02.22. so may be will be part of the release 2022.3 or 2022.4
Orla Cullen
Aleksey Salinin the QRC Q1 2022 corresponds to wave 2022.02. Please refer to the post here for more details on QRC, waves etc https://blogs.sap.com/2022/01/17/sap-analytics-cloud-tenants-on-quarterly-release-cycle-qrc-updates-in-2022/
The availability of the Data Export API feature and documentation is a specific discussion.
As said by Gerd Schoeffl in another message "The feature is shipped as a controlled release in QRC1 so it will only be visible once the corresponding feature toggle has been set.".
I hope this helps!
Kind regards
Antoine

Hi Guys,
as the QRC Q1 is out we are still missing the possibility to select Access Type "Data Export Service"
within the App Integration Tab.
Can the feature toggle be set from the customer?
Is there a documentation or How to?
BR,
Hannes
Hi Orla Cullen, from our side also the same request as above... would like some more information on how to use the "Data Export Open API" feature on preview tenant.
Hi,
As indicated above the feature is in a controlled release and thus not visible unless the corresponding toggle is set. We are working on the documentation...
Best regards,
Gerd
Thanks Gerd, we were unaware this was in controlled release, only now the roadmap is showing that. Very much looking forward to hearing more about it.
So customers need to contact their CEE to get this toggle enabled on preview tenants to try it out? And can we assume it won't be ready for productive use-cases in QRC1?
Are there any plans to bring Data change insight feature to stories?
Hi Patrick,
We know the Data change insight is a very popular topic and there are plans to make this available in Stories too.
It is currently in the design process so I don't have a delivery date as yet but was made to believe it would either later this year or early next year. Will keep you posted as I learn more.
Thanks,
Orla
Thanks for your fast reply Orla. Sounds great
Greetings
