SAP Fiori 2.0: Now Available

Today, October 31st 2016, SAP S/4HANA 1610 is released! This is the first time that the new evolution of our SAP Fiori user experience will be available for our customers.

We are excited to see how our vision has become reality. It has been a long journey since the initial design thinking workshops two years ago to the exciting Red Dot award ceremony and the hard work times during the implementation of the new user experience and a large team spanning product management, design and technology is now proud to present you with the outcome of our joint efforts.

With SAP Fiori 2.0 we have included feedback from our customers and users as well as many functions requested by the product teams so that now we are able to provide you with an even more complete and mature experience while following our design principles.

New Design Guidelines and Stencils

This time we publish the latest design guidelines at the same time as the design becomes available to you as part of our products so that you can get background information about the design rationale and guidance for your own development activities right from the start.

The latest version (1.40) of the SAP Fiori Design Guidelines are available on https://experience.sap.com/news/sap-fiori-2-0-the-design-guidelines-version-1-40/

This is the first design guidelines version that reflects the new SAP Fiori 2.0 design.

At the same time, we offer updated design stencils for Axure so that you can design your own SAP Fiori 2.0 applications.

After the recent publication of the older releases until 1.38, this means that now all SAP Fiori design guidelines are now available externally.

One of the most obvious changes that SAP Fiori 2.0 brings is the new visual design. The previous visual design “Blue Crystal” that has been continuously evolving since the first releases of Fiori has now been replace with a new theme called “Belize”. A second flavour of the Belize theme the dark mode “Belize Deep” is planned to become available later.

With S/4 Hana we don’t only take the next evolution step with SAP Fiori but we also introduce a harmonized user experience for classic user interfaces built with SAP GUI or WebDynpro.

Some of the most important enhancements of SAP Fiori 2.0 are:

  • An improved design for the SAP Fiori launchpad with user profile, a recent objects menu, an improved home page and notifications.
  • Improved navigation capabilities and a first version of an app-store like catalogue interface.
  • Unnecessary elements in the application header have been removed.
  • New and improved floorplans like the Object Page and the Overview Page with new layouts and elements have been added and a new consistent page layout has been introduced.
  • Existing controls have been improved and a couple of new controls have been introduced.

Take Aways

With the release of SAP Fiori 2.0 today we are completing an important step in our journey to define the future of corporate consumer experience. It was a great team effort from the first design workshops to the implementation and adoption by the product teams. SAP Fiori 2.0 introduces a number of important features that were still missing such as enhanced navigation capabilities and the possibility to manage large numbers of applications, better scalable floorplans and the possibility to proactively bring up system events through notifications.

Beyond the current scope, SAP Fiori 2.0 has also been designed to prepare for future capabilities and enhancements for even more flexibility in navigation and screen layout, multi-tasking as the possibility to make use of context and interaction history.

To get started, we provide you with the latest design guidelines including Axure design stencils already today at
