SAP Analytics Cloud brings together analytics and planning with unique integration to SAP applications and seamless access to heterogenous data sources. It helps everyone in your organization make decisions without doubt with trusted insights and integrated plans.

This blog post introduces the features of the SAP Analytics Cloud 2022.25 release available for SAP Analytics Cloud FastTrack customers. For SAP Analytics Cloud Quarterly Release Cycle (QRC) customers, this release and its features will be available as part of the QRC Q1 2023 release.

System Administration and Technical Requirements

Although not required, you may upgrade to the latest SAP Analytics Cloud agent version 1.0.367 to take advantage of all data acquisition types.

The agent’s minimum version remains at 1.0.75, with the following exceptions:

Version 1.0.99 for SAP ERP/SQL Database
Version 1.0.355 for SAP Universe (UNX)
Version 1.0.353 for SAP Business Warehouse (BW)
Version 1.0.235 for SAP HANA View
Version 1.0.248 for File Server

For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

Release Highlights

Administration and Service Management

Administrative-level Control of File Upload in the Files Area

In this release, we are introducing a new permission called ‘Uploaded Files’, that allows users to upload files to the tenant. With this permission, administrators can control which users can upload files to a discussion or in the file repository.

Augmented Analytics

Predictive Planning

Median Expected MAPE in Segmented Overview

The accuracy of time series forecasting scenarios can now be evaluated with the median Expected MAPE in addition to the average. As the median is not easily skewed by extreme values, the presented performance for segmented models is more representative of actual performance through median Expected MAPE.

Dashboard and Story Design

Optimized Presentation Table - Allow resizing of the table title

It is now possible to manually resize the table title in optimized presentation tables. When resizing a table widget (e.g., via changing the browser size or screen resolution), the table title will be adjusted accordingly. This improvement will prevent text being cut-off as the maximum height of the table title is now aligned with the widget height and the minimum heigh is set based on the current visible parts (such as details, subtitle, etc). This update is to ensure feature parity and to close gaps between optimized and non-optimized presentable tables.

Optimized Story Experience Update

Support Blended Charts (for Live HANA and Acquired) in Optimized View Mode

Blended Charts created in the Classic Design Experience can now be supported in Optimized View Mode to continue to ensure feature parity and close gaps in the optimized experience:

  • There are performance improvements in the initial story loading of a page with blended charts in OVM as there is no metadata request being fired

  • Features that are supported in Blended Charts in OVM include Rank, Drill, Sort, Linked Analysis, Edit Axis, Axis Break, Reference Line, Variance, Error Bar, and so on

  • There is a UI enhancement to the Applied to Chart dropdown menu to improve users’ ability to see blending details

This is the first phase in supporting blended charts in the new stack, and support is currently limited to HANA live connection and Acquired Models. Additionally, unsupported features include: Table, Thresholds, BW Live Support, Blended Calculations, Blended Error Bar, Cross Calculations, and more. We are working on unblocking even more blended features for the Optimized Experience in the future.

Support Larger Number of Datapoints for Table and Chart as part of Blended Data Subquery

SAP Analytics Cloud Administrators can now customize the number of data points rows, or columns used in Blended Data subqueries. Administrators can adjust the number of datapoints

  • A subquery refers to the underlying query that is used to acquire data from its corresponding model used in a Blended Data widget. There is one subquery for each model used in a Blended Data Widget.

This feature gives users flexibility to get more accurate Blended Data since the live connection will now query for more data points before performing the data blend.

Previous Default Limit New Limit
Charts Datapoints 10,000 20,000
Table 500 Rows by 60 Columns 5,000 Rows by 5,000 Columns

Please note that depending on the number of widgets with Blended Data on the Story page, users should expect performance impact when increasing the limit from the provided defaults. This feature is limited to SAP BW Live connections.

Enterprise Planning

Planning Process – Technical Audit Support

For auditing purposes, all changes to calendar events will be logged. This includes the following activities:

  • Create: Includes creating, copying and generating events

  • Update

  • Update Status

  • Convert

  • Delete

  • Read

The activities log can be found under Security -> Activities. This give tenant administrators visibility to when specific changes were made, and by whom.

Planning Process - Improved Selection Dialog

The selection dialog has been improved when selecting parent processes and dependency events. Users can now use the following functions to help identify their required event:

  • Search on name

  • Show filter bar to display predefined filters and set additional filters

  • Select additional columns to display more properties like status, progress, duration, or type

These improvements give users a better overview of calendar events and makes it easier to narrow down on a specific event to select.

Multi Actions - Application Designer APIs

Application designer users can use script APIs with the multi actions technical object to let application users execute multi actions, set and read parameter values at runtime. This enhancement extends usability of multi actions in analytics designer by allowing users to create more interactive and highly custom-defined analytic applications.

Multi Actions - Orchestration Support for Master Data Import

In the data import step of multi actions, users can now choose whether to import model data or master data. With this enhancement, multi actions offers a complete end-to-end workflow to orchestrate master data import, fact data import, planning calculation (data action) and the ability to publish the data to version in one multi action.

Microsoft Office Integration

Trigger Data Actions

Users can add data actions defined in SAP Analytics Cloud. In this initial release parameters are limited to fixed values. Execution is asynchronous and users will receive a notification once completed. Integration into the Data Action Monitor is also available, to check on the success of the processing job.
