Today, in our continuing series of new functionality that may not share the spotlight with others; I would like to highlight the ability to turn Conditions on and off in BI4.1.

Problem

The Conditions applied in the BEx Query Designer, could not be turned on or off, as mentioned, in this submission on “Idea Place”. https://ideas.sap.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=9AE8C74A-8E80-46B3-B375-6ED0DB92DA2B&idea_id=92DF503E-...

Current (BI4.0)

In BI4.0, when a Condition was applied to the A-OLAP workspace, a user could not choose to turn it on or off. This could be somewhat inhibiting, especially if an Analyst wished to view information outside of the boundaries of the condition. As well, it was not apparent within A-OLAP, that a condition had been applied to the query.

New

In BI4.1, a greater control of how Conditions are applied has been introduced. As illustrated below, Conditions defined in the BEx Query Designer can now be viewed in the filter menu and these Conditions may be turned on and off. In the image below, the “Country Condition” has been applied and as a result, only one row is present in the crosstab. Upon unchecking the condition, the filter is removed and all 71 rows are returned.

Look out for other posts showcasing what’s new in Analysis edition for OLAP over the coming days leading up to Sapphire.

Best regards,

Philip
