It is important for returns process that serial number and material can identify the unique object. To fill gaps between Web Client UI and Fiori app for a better benefit to cloud customers, we enabled the serial number in Manage Customer Returns app (MCR app). This blog post explains the serial number handling MCR app available as of SAP S/4HANA 2202 Cloud.
Enable serial number for returns order item in MCR app
If serial number profile for the material is assigned, the serial numbers tab will be visible in MCR app edit item detail page. Let’s take material TG20 as an example.
Serial numbers must equal to the item quantity
The number serial numbers you can enter for the returns order item must always equal to the item quantity. For example, if item quantity is one, you can’t enter more than one serial number.
Value help for serial number input
The value help for serial number provides two search templates: you can search serial numbers by reference document or by product. User could manually change it by switching the value of dropdown list. The default view is serial number by reference document. When searching by reference document, if the return order was created from a sales order, the serial numbers come from the sales order. If the returns order was created from an invoice, the serial numbers come from its outbound delivery.
The page calculates and generates needed input boxes automatically. This process will consume resources of user’s browser. To forbid the browser crash by large resource consumption, the page will stop this auto process when item quantity exceeds 10000.
