For those of you who missed SAP CEO Bill McDermott's keynote address at SAPPHIRE NOW, let me share with you a few highlights:

Addressing SAP's customers directly, Bill started by saying, "I've always believed that together we can turn the world's greatest challenges into our biggest opportunities." But then he brought up the latest technology trends like the Internet of Things, Blockchain, Machine Learning, and more and pointed out that, "...even as the noise is so loud, few can actually explain what it means. Here's what it should mean: intelligently connecting people, things, and businesses."

He then went on to say, "It's SAP's job to make you an early adopter of the intelligent enterprise. We want you to win," which he followed up with an introduction to SAP Leonardo, SAP's new Digital Innovation System, which includes all those transformative technologies he mentioned earlier.

But what does it really mean to "go digital" and where should you start? Well, openSAP -- SAP's Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform -- thought you might have that question! So we've put together a free course, starting June 7, called "Touch IoT with SAP Leonardo."

Not surprisingly, as the name implies, we show you how to get started with the Internet of Things but do so within the context of the new SAP Leonardo Digital Innovation System. Confused about Blockchain and how it works? We have a session on that. Interested in learning about Design Thinking and Prototyping? We have several sessions on that too.

We start by giving you an overview of technology trends today and even have a couple of sessions hosted by leading tech analysts IDC and Technology Business Research. We then take a deep dive into how SAP Leonardo fits into the larger SAP strategy. And we've included some hands-on exercises with new SAP products (that are part of SAP Leonardo) to show you what digital transformation can mean for you.

In addition, we are hosting a "prototype challenge" competition in which anyone is welcome to join. We will provide tools and templates (including BUILD, SAP's prototyping tool) for you to rapidly prototype your first SAP Leonardo experience and will enable the option for you to give and receive feedback with your peers.

Last but not least, the top 200 winners of the prototype challenge will be showcased in a gallery and will get to choose how SAP funds entrepreneurs in the developing world through the non-profit organization Kiva. We want to show the power of not just connecting things, but also people. In the words of Bill, "We can build a new digital civilization, one that ensures opportunities for all people, not just some people."

So sign up here and join us on June 7 to learn, prototype, and connect together with SAP Leonardo!
