The Intelligent Enterprise Institute officially launched in Berlin on December 10th, 2020

With the invitation to “grab your popcorn and make yourself comfortable” started the launch of the Intelligent Enterprise Institute – Berlin Chapter.

The scenery was unique: In cars and wrapped in blankets, customers and partners were in front of a big screen and followed the opening as in a drive-in movie theater – with snacks, soft drinks, and a fireplace to warm up due to the cold season.

The mood was exuberant, instead of clapping hands, horns were honked in the car, and everyone was excited to see the new chapter Intelligent Enterprise Institute start in Berlin, the center of innovation.

But what is the Intelligent Enterprise Institute and why was it established?

SAP has a long-established heritage of bringing software to customers through standardized services. However, a software that runs efficiently is not enough. As Christian Klein says, “If anything, the current crisis shows that our Intelligent Enterprise strategy is more relevant than ever”. Insights from customers, employees, products, and brands need to be collected and analyzed in order to derive optimal solutions, optimize processes, identify threats, and exploit innovations.

The Intelligent Enterprise Institute was created to achieve just that: to help organizations build a successful Intelligent Enterprise strategy and design the future of business and society through the power of ideation and intelligent technologies. As part of SAP’s strategy and business technology platform, it aims at connecting integrated, end-to-end processes with intelligent technologies, such as machine learning and IoT, to increase efficiency, connect products and services, and create a digital customer experience.

“Drive into the Future”

Creatively bringing together the digital and physical world, the Intelligent Enterprise Institute was launched in a hybrid format of open-air cinema and online meeting platform. This concept of being the conference and watching the conference at the same time represents the very basis of the thought process of the IEI: to make the impossible possible with passion, creativity, imagination, and collaboration.

Following the introduction of the 4 labs of the IEI – process, data, experience, and sustainability – as well as the mobile Intelligent Enterprise truck, several partners and customers shared their experience with the Intelligent Enterprise Institute.

As Customer Experience Director at Delivery Hero, Sebastian McLinktok talked about his customer experience program and how the IEI has supported on driving critical points by combining operational data with experience data. Afterwards, Stefan Balzer, CEO of BOMA and global partner of the IEI, presented his idea of future leadership with respect to the two dimensions “What you need to know” and “Who you need to be”.

Based on the different stages of the process transformation, Andre Wenz, co-founder of Spotlight entered the stage and answered the important question: How can we use data to help customers transform and automate the processes?

Finally, Julia Zhou and Daniel Dippold from Kairos talked about the constituents of success and Kairos’ aim to push the world forward through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Overall, the launch of the Intelligent Enterprise Institute in Berlin was not only a unique event but also a big success! In case you haven’t had the chance to attend the event virtually, feel free to grab some popcorn, make yourself comfortable, and watch the recording here:
