This week I joined over 120 professors from SAP University Alliances member schools from across the Americas gathered for the annual SAP University Alliances Summer Workshops at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Professors were enabled on SAP S/4 HANA ERP, SAP Analytics, ERPsim and SAP HANA Applications. We also introduced the SAP Learning Hub - Academy Edition to the many new professors joining our group. I provided an update to the group on current SAP University Alliances priorities and plans for the coming academic year including our SAP Next-Gen events.

Workshop Offerings:

Introduction to Business Processes Using SAP S/4 HANA and SAP ERP  


Tom Wilder, University of California, Chico

Participants are introduced to the SAP University Alliances program, SAP S/4 HANA, SAP ERP, and best practices for teaching with University Alliances curriculum. New curriculum content featuring SAP S/4 HANA will be introduced. Additional ERP processes will be covered using the "Introduction to SAP ERP using Global Bike Inc." curriculum with a focus on teaching the concepts, principles and techniques related to these processes and hands-on exercises.

SAP ERP Configuration using Global Bike   


Simha Magal, Grand Valley State University

Participants are introduced to SAP ERP Configuration using Global Bike, Inc. (GBI) curriculum. Topics include: curriculum overview for SAP ERP Configuration; teaching system configuration using GBI client; concepts, exercises and effective pedagogy; and guidance on preparing for first classroom use. Participants will explore how to integrate IoT and design into teaching with GBI with SAP BUILD and SAP Splash.

Analytics with SAP Including SAP BusinessObjects Cloud and Digital Boardroom


Nancy Jones, San Diego State University

Participants are introduced to cutting edge analytics solutions from SAP with a focus on hands-on exercises covering end user analytics. Three areas of analytics are presented – reporting (slicing and dicing), visualization, and prediction (data mining). Participants are also introduced to SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse. Big sets from the University of Arkansas will be used during the workshop for some exercises. This workshop introduces participants to SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, SAP’s latest cloud based analytics solution!

Introduction to SAP HANA and HANA Application Development


Ross Hightower, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee

Participants are introduced to SAP HANA, SAP's in-memory database for real-time analytics and applications, and SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP's Platform as a Service offering for developing and extending apps in the cloud. The workshop introduces new curriculum for teaching HANA application development using SAP UI5, both on-premise and extending into the cloud.

ERPsim Level 1


Tim Rutherford, Marquette University (representing HEC Montreal)

The objective of this course is to prepare faculty to use ERPsim in their classrooms. Upon completion of the course, attendees will officially attain ERPsim Certified Instructor status, allowing them to use ERPsim in their classrooms. Attendees are expected to have some prior exposure to SAP ERP and the University Alliances protocols for system provisioning etc. No prior knowledge of ERPsim is required.
