SAP HANA Academy’s Tahir Hussain “Bob” Babar gives a video tutorial on using OData as a data source for SAP Lumira Desktop and Cloud.
Bob examines the process of creating a new dataset via connecting to a query with SQL. This options allows a user to run free hand SQL on a database to download data. After choosing the connecting to a query option a user is prompted to select a database. (Note: the green check mark next to a database's name indicates that a driver has already been installed.)
After selecting an OData database, Bob enters a Service Root URI that he pulls from services.odata.org. Next, a user can choose where the filtering and the sorting of the data will be done and even how long the connection will last for.
Once connected a user can access a list of entities that contain various tables of data. Bob shows how a user can customize the data they want to create by selecting individual columns from the tables.
Bob demonstrates how to manipulate the format of the data by changing the aggregation of measures and hiding and merging columns.
Finally, Bob shows how to save a document containing an OData dataset into the SAP Lumira cloud.
Bob’s informative video provides a great introduction to working with OData in SAP Lumira.
