From the point of view of Transportation, Dangerous Goods Management is the focus as it deals with classifying products according to dangerous goods regulations and the dangerous goods data which is integrated into sales, delivery and transportation processes, where the information is used for transport compliance checks.

Dangerous Goods Check in Transportation Management can also be done based on Product Safety & Stewardship (PS&S) functionality.

Few vital points to remember when using Product Compliance based Dangerous Goods Checks:

  • What is transported is a "Packaged Product" (in Product compliance there is a separation of Unpackaged and Packaged product)
  • Transport Regulations (example ADR, RID, ADN, IATA, IMDG, etc..) which are mode-of-transport specific and the countries party to those regulations decide if or not the Packed Product is transported

Some important Business Roles are:

SAP_BR_MD_SPECIALIST_PCLMaster Data Specialist – Product Compliance
SAP_BR_DG_SPLST_PCLDangerous Goods Specialist – Product Compliance

Identifying Material as "relevant" for Compliance Check

This needs to be done in the "Manage Product Master Data" App.

Here the important information about the Compliance Purposes is stored. Compliance Purpose includes the different Regulations which would be applied. Here one needs to be aware of the Regulations for different modes of transport and the respective geographies.

Below is an example of Product from Transportation point of view
