Meet Sarah, a Production Supervisor at a high-volume high tech manufacturing plant in US using SAP Digital Manufacturing.

Her day begins with a quick check-in at her desk, a steaming cup of coffee in hand, and a glance at her computer screen.

First stop: Resource Orchestration (aka REO), a cloud-based solution that empowers her to perform last mile scheduling in the shop floor, for the next couple of shifts, taking constraints like equipment, worker, and tools availability into account.

Here, Sarah gets a bird's-eye view of the orders lined up for the next shifts. With a few clicks, she schedules operations, adjust workers schedule based on their skills and reserves the tools needed, and releases production orders to the shop floor, so the manufacturing process can start.

As the day progresses, Sarah keeps a close eye on Line Monitor POD. This handy tool gives her real-time updates on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) KPIs and live monitoring of the shop floor. It's like having a window into the heart of the operation, allowing her to spot any issues and make adjustments on the fly.

Today, however, Sarah notices a blip on the radar – the quality KPI is lower than usual.

Concerned, she investigates the problem deeper, pulling up existing standard reports for order progress and traceability information.

She then turns to SAP Digital Manufacturing for Insights, leveraging embedded SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud) dashboards, where she can use drill-down capabilities to find comprehensive information on component consumption, defects, nonconformances, rework, traceability and visual inspection results.

With this information on hands, Sarah works together with her team of data scientists to analise the root cause of the issue by leveraging the latest visual inspection results, powered by AI. They find out that a new type of defect is happening in the shop floor, which has been going on without being noticed by workers.

Together, they get to the bottom of the problem and take immediate actions to address it by training an improved AI/ML model and deploying it to the shop floor, so this new type of defect can be identified earlier.

As the day goes by, her efforts pay off – the quality KPI starts to climb again, getting back closer to where it needs to be.

With a sense of accomplishment, Sarah closes out the day knowing that she's not only met but exceeded all production and KPI targets.

In a world where every minute counts and every decision matters, Sarah is the hero, using the power of SAP Digital Manufacturing to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

As she shuts down her computer and heads home, she can't help but feel a sense of pride in a job well done.
