SAP Ariba Discovery - Standing with Turkey

As a member of the SAP team, I am deeply saddened by the recent earthquake in Türkiye, the loss of life and devastation throughout most of the country is shocking.  In-fact, I am writing this blog after my visit to a SAP customer based in Türkiye and I must say, my interactions with the customer and, well, pretty much everyone in Türkiye was one of resilience and determination

At SAP, we believe in helping communities in times of crisis, not just the company but also all employees, it creates a warm feeling inside knowing you share a common purpose with your colleagues.

SAP are proud to assist with disaster relief efforts and not just in Türkiye but also Ukraine.  Our teams have been working tirelessly to provide support and assistance in the affected regions however, the wider question is if >80% of global companies use SAP software how can we use our resources to help people in need?

One way we can help is with the use of the SAP Ariba Discovery, this is essentially a portal which connects buyers and suppliers to buy and sell goods and services, the network is vast with many requests (RFI’s/RFP’s) generated daily.  Well so what?  How can SAP Ariba Discovery help earthquake victims??

It’s simple, buyers are individuals or companies that have a requirement, suppliers are the same but offer goods and services, both have geographies where they operate – So there you have it…The requirement is to help people in Türkiye, suppliers with goods and services that can reach Türkiye can help provide aid.

In-fact, this is not new.  To support people in Ukraine, SAP supported the post of aid requests ranging from medical PPE through to food, you see there are millions of suppliers in SAP Ariba Discovery so together, with a common goal we made a difference.

To make it easier, SAP have added a new flag in SAP Ariba Discovery called Humanitarian Aid, which includes an option for "Turkey Earthquake" requests. This enables buyers and suppliers to easily post and respond to requests to support the effort, I’ve provided additional details below:

Our efforts don’t stop there, SAP is hosting a weekly webinar to demonstrate how to use the platform.  To join a webinar, please register here

We understand that the recovery process will take time and we remain committed to help in any way we can. Our hearts go out to those affected by this tragedy, and we will continue to do our part to assist with the recovery efforts especially with the start of Ramadan.  Stay strong people – Ramadan Kareem to you all!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. We hope that it helps to shed some light on the important work being done by SAP and our partners in Turkey. For our Turkish speaking buyers & suppliers, please find the following short videos explaining how to navigate the SAP Ariba Discovery portal.
