In September 2012, SAP University Alliances China organized the second China Student Dashboard Design Competition 2012 supported by colleagues from SAP Community Network (SCN), Technology and Innovation Platform (TIP) and Business Intelligence Technology (BIT) China. Through this competition, SAP provides students insight into the Business Intelligence solution and how it helps enterprise to transform the raw data captured into meaningful analysis, and predict future trends that will help drive decisions. In total, 196 teams with 392 students registered for the 2nd UA China Student Dashboard Design competition. 6 teams won the prizes and the all the teams attended TechEd Shanghai this year.
This competition is open to all SAP University Alliances member schools across China. Each team has two members, either at the undergraduate or at postgraduate level. All the teams were required to work on a common theme – analyzing various trends of looking at Summer Olympics Games from 2000 to 2012. The winning teams were all awarded prizes such as a tablet PC, smart phone and MP4 player. All 6 finalist team members received an SAP certificate acknowledging their achievement. Additionally, the 1st and 2nd prize winner teams will attend Global SAPPHIRENOW at Orlando, USA in May 2013 to compete with other students in a global Innojam.
The top winning team of the Competition was also invited to showcase their dashboard design work at DemoJam, one of highlights of SAP TechEd 2012 Shanghai. The pair of students from the top team are Yu Bin and Zhang Zimo from the School of Software Engineering, Tongji University. This ‘next generation’ UA student group competed with other 5 top professionals from SAP Partners. All 5 professional entries were designed and coded on HANA, while the Student team was based on the Dashboard Design. The students gained great recognition from the audiences and SAP Mentors and were ranked 2nd at DemoJam. Both the university professors and students felt very delighted to expose to the public of the ‘youthful’ idea, innovative spirit and keen interest on SAP technology.
The winning students were very excited when they were informed that 1st & 2nd winning teams will be invited to Global SAPPHIRENOW in Orlando, USA in May 2013.
The 1st prize winner team presented their entry at the TechEd DemoJam and received the 2nd ranking.

Congratulations to the success of the TechEd students session. It was also impressive to see the results of the student competition where our students have expressed their interest to participate in next year competition organized by UA China.

I am so happy today to be invited to TechEd to participate in the Students’ Session. When the moment we know that we won the second price I was so excited and want to cry. Our group spent over a month to prepare for the competition and now our efforts have been recognized and we have won an award.
This activity also invited SAP experts to share their ideas of how they use SAP product to support their business and I very enjoy the topic.
It is great I am looking forward to next year TechEd.
