Disclosure Management Workpaper - Source Composition files

Hi Experts,
We are working with a company implementing S/4 that issues financial statements but will not have extensive reporting capabiilities or a consolidation system. Therefore, we have some format and data adjustments required in Excel before getting ot the final financial statement balalnces.

We want to use their existing reports and wondering whether to include the Excel source files within DM that perform the calculations. Examples include cash flows or revenue by division with calculations/formulas.
Option 1 – perform these calculations outside the system in Excel and only connect to the final Excel file/tab with the data required for reporting.
Option 2 – bring in the formula file in DM and perform the calcualtions inside.

Option 2 advantage is where we need to cross reference calculations to the trial balance - there needs to be link to the trial balance, then everything is in one location in DM.
Disadvantage – adding additional workpaper files to DM that aren’t directly related to the reporting.

Wondering how organizations in similar situation address this?

For “top side” adjustments to the trial balance we plan to create additional columns in the TB Excel to record the adjustments and the post adjustment columns will serve as the source. This will be cross checked to the balance sheet P&L summary to make sure they are adjusted in parallel.

The following files will be provided as source DM Excel files:
Balance Sheet and P&L reports with required structure
Trial balance
Any non SAP Financials files (e.g. actuarial report, tax etc.)
Thanks
Eyal
