Welcome to the latest update on SAP Convergent Charging!

We're excited to share the newest features and improvements, including Access Controls for Pricing Specialists, seamless Import and Export of Pricing Functions, and the ability to Manage and Change user passwords directly from the Cockpit.

Additionally, we'll explore the latest in tools for Performance Monitoring in the Cockpit and the introduction of an API for accessing filtered mapping tables data. Stay tuned to discover these exciting developments and other enhancements that are set to elevate your experience with SAP Convergent Charging, as part of the SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) suite.

Access controls for pricing specialists

With this release, we have introduced a brand-new feature to allow organizations to limit access and type of access to specific pricing tables (Mapping Tables & Range Tables) based on the person's configured roles and responsibilities.

To enable this new feature, a couple of new capabilities have been added to the cockpit.

New Fiori Business Roles

Two new roles have been added to the cockpit to help with administration and access to user-defined tables:

  • Administrator – User Management:
    • The Administrator – User Management role is a new role that allows the administrator of the cockpit to assign users, specific permissions to one or more Price tables. To help the administrator, we have also introduced a new Fiori App called the Manage Permissions app, which is used by this role to manage which users have access to what types of tables, and what kind of access they might have (read-only or read-write). The Administrator – User Management role can assign or remove permissions to specific Pricing Specialist – Price Data roles.

  • Pricing Specialist – Price Data:
    • The Pricing Specialist – Price Data role is a new role that provides users of this role with access only to Price Tables (i.e. Mapping Tables & Range Tables) and specifically tables for which they are authorized to access by the Administrator – User Management role.

These Access controls for pricing specialists’ features play a crucial role in helping to improve segregation of duties by limiting access to pricing tables based on preconfigured authorization, and in the process help to reduce errors in price maintenance, limit fraud related to pricing, and improve overall security and user management for pricing maintenance.

Import and Export of Pricing Functions

In the last release (SAP Convergent Charging 2023, FPS0), we introduced the Pricing Function, which introduces the ability to manage pricing as composable and reusable pricing logic.

With this release, we have now introduced the ability to export and import pricing functions in the cockpit. You can now export a pricing function from the system to a file, and then import the file into the same system or different system.

Import Pricing Function utility in Cockpit

The ability to import and export Pricing Functions from the Cockpit helps to improve the overall portability of your configured pricing rules across multiple systems and developers. It also helps to improve the overall reusability of Pricing Functions for multiple scenarios.

Ability to change the User Password in the Cockpit

We have taken one step further in helping Cockpit users to remain independent of the Core Tool, but introducing the ability to change your user password directly from the cockpit:

This new capability supports the following use cases:

  • Support password changes from the Cockpit:
    • On initial login
    • When a password has expired
    • When a password has been reset by the user administrator

With these new features in the Cockpit, we not only improve the user experience for Cockpit users but also continue to improve overall security and user management.

Performance monitoring for the Cockpit

We have taken steps to help administrative users of the Cockpit to better assess and resolve performance-related issues, by implementing a performance monitoring tool for the cockpit. This tool can help identify the root causes of performance issues by generating end-to-end performance data (e.g. processing time, latency, etc).

With the new performance monitoring tool for the cockpit, we have now added:

  • Support for SAP Passport in the Cockpit APIs
  • Propagation of the passport to the SAP Convergent Charging core server (using the HCI API)
  • Use of UI5 diagnostic tools in the browser to manage a trace session.

This new performance monitoring capability can help IT managers of the Cockpit to identify and resolve critical issues related to UX performance in the Cockpit.

New API for accessing filtered mapping tables data

We have introduced a new API for accessing mapping table data. This API is specifically designed to help in cases when reading large mapping table data using the Web-Service API.

The new web-service API implements a search operation called mappingTableRowFind which reads rows of a mapping table.

The API can be used on catalog or agreement mapping tables. It also adds support for pagination and filtering with conditions on any column.

The new web-service APIs can help when integrating with SAP Convergent Charging to read large Mapping Tables and can help to reduce performance-related issues and memory leaks.
