ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH directory - local disk or network share?

Hi All,

With regard to data archiving (ILM) is the best practise to specify the ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH directory as a local disk or network share? 

Local disk would be faster but present potential access challenges from other servers in a distributed system, whereas a network share would be easier to make widely accessible but at the expense of write performance.

Wondering what the community thoughts are on this?
