Hello and welcome to this blog covering the release highlights for localization in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2402. Also with this release, we deliver 4 new local versions for Slovenia, Oman, Kuwait and Kazakhstan, additional enhancements regarding our Official Document Numbering (ODN) framework, as well as functionality for business partner certificates.

Localization

Local Versions

Local versions help you meet local requirements by taking into account diverse legal frameworks, and different languages, and by complying with a wide range of local financial reporting standards, tax calculations and laws. With the new release, we add four new SAP-delivered local versions: Slovenia, Oman, Kuwait and Kazakhstan.​

Value Proposition​

  • Steer business operations globally with ease utilizing SAP-delivered localizations​
  • Address increasing legal changes and compliance requirements on time​
  • Leverage standard processes and automation to address regulatory requirements worldwide, like taxes, e-invoicing, statutory reporting, and payments​

Capabilities​

  • Slovenia: Bank statements, payment formats, financial statements, VAT declarations, e-invoicing, withholding tax reporting, journal entries audit files​
  • ​Oman: Business partner certificates, cash flow statements, VAT return, output forms​
  • Kuwait: Output forms, supplier certificates, payment methods and formats, cash flow statements, withholding tax settlement forms, company certificates, subcontract retention​
  • ​Kazakhstan: Payment methods and formats, VAT reporting, e-invoicing, financial statements, output forms and reports

Official Document Numbering Framework for Customer Invoices in Financial Accounting (Cross-Country Innovation)

Official Document Numbering framework solution enables you to configure a gapless sequential document identification number, typically based on the legal requirement of your country. With this new feature, you can now add Official Document Numbers (ODNs) to your customer invoices in Financial Accounting (FI). You can generate ODNS either automatically, based on pre-determined rules or you can generate them manually by entering one or more ODNs in the Create Outgoing Invoices app.​

Value Proposition​

  • The ODN framework provided as part of localization as a self-service, currently focuses for countries/region where no standard ODN solution is available ​
  • This is applicable to SAP-delivered local versions and customer local versions. ​
  • Establishing a harmonized solution that is available across countries and processes​
  • Ability to handle with longer ODN references, max. 200 characters possible​
  • Flexibility to define rules to address country or business-specific ODN variations​

Capabilities​

  • Enablement of the official document numbering framework for customer invoices in financial accounting using localization extensibility capabilities:​
  • Rule-based determination and generation of the official document number (ODN) upon the save event​
  • Manual end-user input of one or multiple ODNs in the Create Outgoing Invoices app

Business Partner Certificates

​In some countries/regions, business partners are required to have certificates of registration issued by their legal authorities to do business in the country/region. These certificates are valid for a limited time and must be renewed periodically.​

Value Proposition​

  • In some countries, it’s illegal to transact with business partners who don’t have valid trade related certificates. Hence, in case of expired certificates, there is a need to trigger an action like sending notifications, blocking the BP or the corresponding supplier and/or customer​
  • Business partner certificates and their details are captured in the system as business partner master data and need to be monitored regularly​
  • This innovation is available with the 2402 release for Egypt, Kuwait & Oman​

Capabilities​

  • Configure business partner certificates: Define certificate IDs, assign them to countries/regions, and configure their properties​
  • Maintain validity periods for business partner certificates which usually have a validity period
