How to move from SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation to SAP Build Process Automation for SAP S/4HANA Cloud customers?

SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation (SAP iRPA) is getting deprecated! So what does this mean for SAP S/4HANA Cloud customers?

With the February 2022 release of SAP Build Process Automation, capabilities of SAP Workflow Management (SAP WFM) and SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (SAP iRPA) were consolidated to a single low-code tool.

To ensure all customers can benefit from our latest innovations, and as functional parity is available between SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation and SAP Build Process Automation, we have sunset SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation.

You may have received a Deprecation Note from Dec. 13^th onwards stating this information, or you might be surprised by this note right now…

But no worries right now, we have planned for several steps to support you here.

What does this mean for you?

Now your question may be, why and how does this affect ME as a (potential) SAP S/4HANA Cloud customer and/or SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation customer?

The short answer is, there is a successor existing: SAP Build Process Automation, where you can find a good part of the formerly introduced bots from SAP iRPA.

The Bots provided for SAP S/4HANA in SAP Process Automation are listed in the bot store for SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation (until migrated to the SAP Build Process Automation Store): https://store.irpa.cfapps.eu10.hana.ondemand.com/#/explore/order=last-updated%2Cdesc/flavors=cloud_s...

You can find them when restricting the list to

Design Tool = Cloud Studio

Catalog = Business Content, and

Publisher = SAP S/4HANA

Desktop Studio Bots will not be available in SAP Process Automation Studio. If there is a bot in the Desktop Studio List which is interesting for you as a partner or customer, please open up a ticket under CA-ML-IPA-S4.

Planned enablements in early 2023

In order to help you better how to migrate from your SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation environmet to the new functionality, we will launch a series of enablements in the beginning of 2023. Please stay tuned for updates on THIS blog to get the dates and venues of these enablements.

If you want to reuse your existing bots from SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation, please continue with your contract on SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation, not to lose them.

Also, is it correct to assume that currently SAP build process automation has fewer bots than SAP iRPA. Is it possible to have a list of automation bots available under SAP build process automation ?

Hi Amit,

as stated in the blog, SAP intelligent Robotic Process Automation is Sunsetted already. The only availability for new customers would be to subscribe it via Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement (SAP Discovery Center - SAP Intelligent RPA (cloud.sap)). But it s getting retired soon there as well (probably by end of Q2/2023).

It is correct that there are fewer bots in the store for SAP Build Process automation. But the content is growing and there are a few migrated every month. Also you can propose (see above statement: " If there is a bot in the Desktop Studio List which is interesting for you as a partner or customer, please open up a ticket under CA-ML-IPA-S4"

There it is also described what to filter the list with to get to the selction of bots you requested.

We strongly request any new customer to  subscribe for SAP Build Process Automation.
