Yes, you can. As of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911, it's possible to have an additional currency - or, to be more precise, an additional currency type – in addition to the pre-delivered default currencies, company code currency and group currency.

This additional currency comes in useful if you need a currency that is different from the default currencies, such as a functional currency.

For those company codes in which no postings have yet been made, you can create one additional currency code that you can tailor to your requirements, that is, with the suitable currency code (such as EUR or USD) and the currency conversion settings. When creating this custom currency code, you benefit from a high flexibility in terms of configuration. You can select from the following options:

  • As the source currency (currency used as basis for calculation), choose between document currency and company code currency.

  • As the date type (date used to determine exchange rate), choose between document date, posting date, and translation date.

  • As the exchange rate type, pick the suitable exchange rate type, that is, buying rate, bank selling rate, or average rate.

  • As the currency, pick the currency code you need for your business needs.

Just as for the default currency types, your own currency type is converted in real time for each journal entry according to the currency conversion settings you specify.
