SAP Marketing Cloud - interests after campaign execution not displayed in contact profiles

Hello all,

I need help with the following scenario regarding the collection of interests in combination with the execution of campaigns:

  1. I created a new email campaign with a simple target group and an email that will be sent out to the target group memebers
  2. All the target group members should be marked with specific interests - therefore, I add the corresponding information while configuring the campaign
  3. After the campaign has been executed successfully, I don't see any interest data in the contact profiles

  4. I can see the interaction data but neither the interests nor the tags are displayed in the profile

Is there any configuration missing or what is happening here?

Thanks and regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

My understanding of interests in campaigns was the same as yours, believing it would append to the campaign interaction. I don't believe this is the case however, and interests / tags are merely a way of categorizing and searching for campaigns in this context - which was confusing to me at first. The closest behaviour you can get is by assigning interests to links in content studio as the click through demonstrates they've actually shown interest, as opposed to us just sending them content and assuming they're interested. I may be wrong, but I couldn't find anything from a quick search of the help documentation; my source was an SAP Consultant.

Perhaps someone else can direct you to an article on it. Good luck.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Dennis,

I can confirm what Chris already said. The interests in the campaign aren't assigned to the contact profile (was also confusing for me when I recognized that some time ago) 😉

Think you have to use a workaround.

Do you need this for a specific use case? E.g. for segmentation purposes, you could use the campaign itself.
