What Does the recent SAP / IDS Scheer Announcement Really Mean?
SAP and IDS Scheer recently announced that they would be expanding their reseller agreement for ARIS platform globally. As you probably know, SAP has been reselling the ARIS for SAP NetWeaver business process modeling product for some time now and you may be wondering how the products mentioned in the press release relate to the ARIS for SAP NetWeaver product. As of 2003 IDS Scheer and SAP offered the ARIS modeling tool as a joint brand “ARIS for SAP NetWeaver”. ARIS for SAP NetWeaver provides a seamless integration with SAP Solution Manager and interfaces with the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Services Repository based on open standards (BPEL, WSDL). With the new agreement SAP and IDS Scheer extend their partnership to cover the complete corporate architecture of a company, from business process architecture to IT and information architecture and advanced simulation and optimization of business processes on a conceptual level. The former ARIS for SAP NetWeaver product is being incorporated into the new product offerings. These new offerings combine web-based components supporting the process lifecycle for business process design, analysis, optimization and implementation. Also it includes capabilities to document BI metadata and to measure the performance and visualize the structure of as-is business processes. The new offering extends the goals of enterprise modeling, like business process analysis, process governance and standardization, as well as process simulation and optimization to a corporate architecture. The capabilities for process performance management allow you to close the loop and establish continuous process optimization.
