Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

I tweeted something like this the other day, to try to get some attention that the ASUG Annual Conference Call for Presentations is going to close.  Soon. 

In case you don’t get the reference, it goes back to an iconic movie from 1986 about a kid named Ferris Bueller and his day off from school.  One of his teachers was taking attendance, and kept call his name... Bueller?   And the teacher was getting no response.   Ferris, meanwhile, was out tooling around in his friend’s father’s Ferrari.

Thanks to tammy.powlas, I decided  (in the nick of time!) to blog it too. 

So, bearing that in mind, let’s look at one of Ferris’ famous quotes:

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

December is moving along pretty fast too, and if you don’t stop and look around, you could miss your chance to be one of the stars of the ASUG Annual Conference.  This event is conveniently located in sunny Orlando – and co-exists with its’ little-sister-event, SAPPHIRE. 

At ASUG Annual Conference, the sessions may be different from the SAPPHIRE sessions – at least, that is what we (ASUG Volunteers) strive for.  Our job is tell you the real story – the ways in which real SAP Customers have implemented various solutions, and the benefits and challenges they faced.

So, even though the conference is held in Orlando, the magic really happens now, when your faithful volunteers solicit, evaluate, arm-twist, and otherwise plan – for all the sessions we hope you have time for (and probably more, that, alas, you will not)

Tammy Powlas has already written a couple of excellent blogs about the conference.  I know that there are many reasons why people do not submit abstracts. You're busy, you don't like public speaking, what could you possibly have to share? 

Then again, there were many reasons why Ferris Bueller should NOT have taken the day off.  He should have been in school that day, right? But look what happened. 

I can’t guarantee that you will spend that time in Orlando tooling around in a borrowed Ferrari, or that you’ll catch a home run at a baseball game.  I am reasonably sure that there will not be any high school principles trying to track you down for truancy.

So, are you just going to let life pass you by?  I hope not.
