Hello, my name is Amit Nagar and I work as Program Manager  on SAP BusinessObjects products integration with Microsoft SharePoint

In this post, let meintroduce you to a new product known as "IntegrationOption for Microsoft SharePoint software 1.0".

The need

WithXI3.1 release, SAP BusinessObjects provided SharePointintegration kits as add-ons to BusinessObjects Enterprise,  for Microsoft SharePoint 2007 and MicrosoftSharePoint 2003. These product found acceptance but had limited capabilitiesand fewer webparts.

Theintension and the need was to have a product which provides all the your .NETInfoview capabilities from within Sharepoint interface.

Integration Option for Microsoft SharePoint software1.0  let's you do all that andmore.

Whatstarted out as a “good idea” , has actually turned into a NECESSITY because of...

  1. Microsoft SharePoint is a billion dollar baby with $1b+     market size, 2008 growth was 75% and rapidly becoming a de-facto portal     for Mid-Market, and the lower end of Large Enterprises.
  2. Huge     Market Opportunity for 3rd Party BI Vendors. i.e Adoption for Microsoft BI     is not at par with adoption for Sharepoint.

The Product

Integration Option for Microsoft SharePoint software or IOMS enables the user toperform Business Intelligence activities on the Sharepoint portal through themultiple feature specific web parts. This solution provides the functionalitieslike Schedule, Analyze, Object Management, Publication etc. on the BusinessObjectscontents (like Crystal Report, Web Intelligence, Desktop Intelligence,Xcelcius, Voyager etc) through Sharepoint 2007 for the BusinessObjectsEnterprise users, and is in-line with existing .NET Infoview application.

Iteven provides the functionality of searching the content from BusinessObjectsrepository and Sharepoint content simultaneously.

Moreover IOMS enables the end-user to perform multiple actions simultaneouslyfor e.g. while viewing the report in one webpart the user can also schedule thereport in another webpart. This solution can seamlessly be a part of theexisting Sharepoint corporate portal of the customers and provides BI interfacefor the Enterprise users.

Platform Support

IOMSis a new product and is not a migration option from SharePoint PIKs. In factXI3.1 SharePoint PIKS and IOMS can exist together .

IOMSsupports the following

  1.  SharePoint 2007     and WSS3.0. This release supports only 32 bit versions of SharePoint.
  2. Apart from supporting Level 1 browsers, Firefox is also supported

Formore information you can refer the platformsupport document

Note: You would need BusinessObjects web-tier installed on the machine where youinstall IOMS.
