According to the 11th BImSchV (German regulation: Bundes-Immissionsschutzgesetz), installations that required approval must submit their emissions declaration on a regular basis. This declaration is due every four years.

This applies to companies in the energy, basic materials, and process industries, for example. They must report the type, quantity, and time of emitted air pollutants to the competent authority.

To reduce the time and effort needed in compiling the necessary information, we enable with this new release a new SAP Fiori app, and you are now able to collect store, and calculate the needed relevant Emissions Declaration data.

See in this blog how we continue our journey to increase key differentiators full of exciting innovations, enhancements, and features supporting your intelligent enterprise in the Environment, Health, and Safety area.

To name just a few highlights:

  • Environment Management: My Emissions Declarations

  • Configuration for Environment Management

  • Waste Management: My Permits

  • Waste Management: My Waste Streams

  • My Waste Transportation Documents

  • Provision of Dangerous Good Data for Waste Transportation Documents

  • Waste Analytics

  • Manage Safety Instructions – Substances

  • Configuration for Health and Safety Management

  • … and more.

In this blog post, I will walk you through the selected key highlights for the Environment, Health, and Safety of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302 release.

Environment Management: My Emissions Declarations

Environment management involves defining requirements and managing environmental emissions data to comply with regulations, internal policies, and environmental operating permits and to reduce waste and emissions.

  • Define requirements and ensure timely completion of related tasks

  • Collect, calculate, and process environmental emission data

  • Record deviations and take corrective action

  • Give plant managers a comprehensive view of environmental performance.

Key Features

With this New SAP Fiori app My Emissions Declarations (App ID: F6723), you can collect, store, and calculate relevant Emissions Declaration data, which will later be used for regulatory reporting required by the German regulation "Emissionserklärung nach 11. BImSchV".

You can use this app to do the following:

  • Create a special Emissions Declaration Scenario, which is different from a generic Compliance Scenario.

  • Collect, store, calculate, and submit emissions data as required by local regulations.

  • Specify production process types for Emissions Declaration Scenarios.

  • Calculate the Concentration, Mass Flow, and Total Emissions of an emitted substance.

  • Specify certain activities and attributes that are not available for generic Compliance Scenarios.

Waste Management: My Permits

The Waste Management component supports you in handling waste disposal processes and complying with national and international regulations and laws that are relevant for generation, transport, and disposal.

Key Features

With this new release, you can add waste data to a permit. This allows you to add waste data to existing permits including a permit type, disposal facility, and waste code.

Waste Management: My Waste Streams

Waste streams define the relationship between a waste product, waste generator, storage location, and the points of generation.

For more information, see Waste Streams.

Key Features

With this new 2302 release, you can now add one or more container types used to store the waste material at the point of generation and at the waste storage location, if one is used, depending on the country/region of your waste generator.

Remark: The point of waste generation is the location within your plant where the waste product is generated, and the waste storage location is the location where it is stored.

Provision of Dangerous Good Data for Waste Transportation Documents

To dispose of generated waste, an Environmental Manager needs to document each step in the waste disposal chain in a legally compliant waste transportation document.

For more information, see Waste Transportation Documents.

Key Features

When you classify packaged products according to dangerous goods regulations, the system generates the description of the dangerous goods for documents containing information about dangerous goods. The description for documents is printed on documents within the values chain, such as sales order confirmations, delivery notes, and the ADR Dangerous Goods Notes. The dangerous goods data that must be printed is determined by the type of document. Therefore, different output scenarios are provided, which contain the dangerous goods data needed for a specific document.

With this new 2302 release, an output scenario for printing dangerous goods data on waste transportation documents is delivered.

Effects on Configuration

The dangerous goods descriptions that are printed are not only dependent on the dangerous goods classification of the product but they're also determined by the type of document on which they are printed.

In the Specify Output of Dangerous Goods Description activity, the configuration expert can specify which dangerous goods descriptions are printed on which document and in which sequence. In addition, the expert can specify whether the dangerous goods regulations are printed together with their modes of transport and the transport permission on one document.

If you want to change the settings, use the search function to open the following activity in your configuration environment: Specify Output of Dangerous Goods Description.

For more information about the generation of the description for documents, see Dangerous Goods Descriptions.

Waste Analytics

An Environmental Manager needs to aggregate, analyze, and compare data from waste transportation documents and corresponding data sets with reference information.

This information allows you to regularly monitor your waste flows, and the environmental performance of the waste management system and facilitates your environmental reporting.

Key Features

With this app, you can aggregate, analyze, and compare data from waste transportation documents and corresponding data sets with reference information.

Capabilities of this analytical application using data from waste transport documents:

  • View aggregated data list in form of a chart, table, or both

  • Optional data using search fields (Waste Generator, Product, Waste Generator, Transportation Document Status, Waste Type)

  • Different settings to compare aggregated data listed

  • Time period using from/to dates in the mandatory Handover Date field to retrieve aggregated data from previously created waste transportation documents

Manage Safety Instructions - Substances

Health and safety management involves identifying hazards, implementing controls, and managing tasks to reduce risk and ensure compliance.

  • Prevent exposure to chemicals and workplace hazards by monitoring industrial hygiene and health.

  • Engage workers in health and safety efforts by providing easy access to chemical safety information and running safety inspections.

Key Features

You can use this new SAP Fiori app (App ID: F3857) to create new safety instructions and new revisions for existing safety instructions for all hazardous substances in your factory to keep your workers safe when handling these substances. A safety instruction summarizes the hazards of a substance together with all information for safe handling, for example, personal protective equipment and first aid notes. Which information has to be part of a safety instruction depends on local regulations and requirements.

Capabilities

  • Search and display existing safety instructions. For every combination of substance, factory, job, and language, two revisions of the safety instruction can be visible: the revision last released and the revision in process.

  • Create new safety instructions for a substance, a factory, and a job. If you need safety instruction in different languages, you create a separate safety instruction for every language.

  • Create a new revision for an existing safety instruction when changes occur, for example, when new regulations have an impact on the information required in a safety instruction.

  • The information displayed for the different chapters of a safety instruction can be retrieved from other sources, for example, from the chemical object.

  • Add text and symbols to the different chapters of the safety instruction.

  • For every chapter, you can define and use text blocks to easily reuse commonly used formulations or snippets. You can then reuse these text blocks in other safety instructions.

  • Release the safety instruction and decide if the revision is a major or a minor revision. You can, for example, determine a revision as a major revision, when safety-relevant information has changed, for example, hazardous statements or GHS classifications of the affected substance.

  • Generate a safety instruction document, which is displayed within the app. You can then download or print the document.

  • Select several safety instructions and have the corresponding safety instruction documents sent to your e-mail address.

  • Set a safety instruction to historic if it is no longer needed. The safety instruction is then no longer accessible in this app.
