As of May 2021, SAP Analytics Cloud content for healthcare enterprise capacity planning is available for SAP customers and partners.

What It Does

The dashboard is an out of the box template for healthcare providers to gain rapid insights for the following use cases:

  • Insight into Overall Capacity: Gain insight into the overall capacity within the facility including admissions, discharges, transfers and ED arrivals.

  • Drill-into Emergency Department and Critical Care: Monitor the arrivals, wait-time and occupancy within the emergency department and forecast needs based on predicted patient volumes.

  • Staffing Insight: Track nurse staffing levels over time, and estimate needs in the future, based on expected occupancy.

Healthcare providers are faced with a growing need to better understand and more efficiently manage critical care capacity for their entire enterprise. What happened yesterday is valuable, but knowing what’s happening today, and ultimately planning for tomorrow, is mission critical when managing an uncertain healthcare demands.

This business content features pre-built visualizations, data models, and sample data to jump-start a health system on the critical care capacity planning journey, helping leaders to upgrade efficiency, lower costs, and improve both patient outcomes and experience.

What To Do Next?

We hope you will try it out in your own tenant. You can deploy and customize the content by following our Mission in the SAP Discovery Center

During development of this template, the biggest challenge we encountered was a lack of real medical encounter and census data. Initial sample data sets, built in Excel, were considered too simplistic for Healthcare customers and colleagues to provide us with meaningful feedback to iterate on our designs.

To solve the problem, we created an analytics-cloud-data-generator that can be used to create sample fact data for any SAP Analytics Cloud model, at scale. This has now been released on GitHub as an SAP-sample:

I encourage you to try creating your own sample data sets to make your prototyping resonate more with your business partners!
