SAP Business One Intercompany Solution (ICO) was developed to allow SAP Business One to work for companies with multiple business units or subsidiaries. For example, allowing financial consolidation across all operations, integrated reporting and provide visibility into the sales performance of each business entity.

In order to provide this type of data integration and interchange between different SAP Business One units, the Integration Framework (B1iF) was used as the platform in which ICO was built. B1iF provides all the necessary features and tools to create an integration scenario such as ICO.

As of PL40 of ICO, the B1iF 1.0 version is no longer supported and only the 2.0 version is available for new installations and upgrades.

ICO is a B1iF scenario, and as such complies with the capabilities and limitations of the B1iF version.
Since PL32 of ICO (released at the end of 2019), the B1iF 2.0 version of the scenario has been offered. However it was possible to select either 1.0 or 2.0 in order to allow time for users to get acquainted with the new B1iF environment (see SAP Note 2781395).
Later, the option to select the B1iF 1.0 version of the scenario could only be selected in upgrade situations, but not for new installations. New installations delivered only the version running on B1iF 2.0.

With the release of PL40, ICO now allows only the use of the B1iF 2.0 version of the scenario in both new installations and upgrades (see SAP Notes 2267770 and 2960294).

B1iF 2.0 introduces cloud ready features, such as multi-tenancy, and also an optimized development and debugging environment, which in turn, allow ICO to deploy multiple landscapes that run in parallel.

Note: B1iF 1.0 is still available and any other scenarios (customized or standard) designed for this version will work as before.

For the details on compatibility between ICO and B1iF 2.0 and how to migrate the scenario refer to the Intercompany Solution Administrator’s Guide. Also check the Intercompany Solution page on the SAP Help Portal.
