SAP Lumira Designer is the primary Dashboard development tool in the SAP analytics tool chest. One of the key features of Lumira Designer is the ability to create Composites. Composites create reusable components that can speed up large scale dashboard effort for a large organization. In addition, the use of Composites provides the ability for all dashboards in the organization to have a similar look and feel. david.stocker#about has written an excellent series of blogs on how to create Composites. SAP has provided us some Composites in the "Feature Samples" template of the Lumira Designer client tool.

In this blog I would like to present the "Generic Analysis" Composite. SAP delivers a ready to run Generic template for analyzing data from any SAP BW BEx query. The body content (layout and scripts) can be a very useful composite for any dashboard. You will find a .LUMX file(Lumira 2.2 SP0 Patch1) that provides such a Composite in the following GitHub repository. The Lumira document also include a sample application that demonstrates how to use the Composite. It is simple to use by setting the datasource alias property of the Composite with the actual datasource from the application. In our dashboard development effort, we provide the users with a custom layout of visualizations for a metric on a Basic Analysis tab, and the Generic Analysis Composite on another tab for advanced self service ad-hoc analysis.

I am currently involved in creating dashboards for a large public sector organization. I noticed a lack of ready to use Composites in the community. I have shared one Composite here and hopefully will be able to share more soon. I would like to encourage other members to post their Composites for the common good.
