There’s no debate: cloud is at the center of the IT go-forward for everyone and every organization. SAP has made cloud the centerpiece of its strategy with the SAP® HANA Cloud platform, and we’ve bet big on it. This doesn’t mean, however, that we’re turning our back on 40 years of experience with Public Sector & Healthcare customers and our understanding of their special missions. Privacy and security are the major factors that have given organizations pause about moving to the cloud. That hesitation – especially in government, where it ran deep – is finally melting away, and SAP and its partners can take a little bit of credit. We’ll be celebrating this shift, and considering the road ahead, at the SAP Public Services and Healthcare Summit in The Hague from May 7-9.

SAP’s ability to offer “your cloud, your way,” with the option of keeping some data on-premise while still offering the ease and efficiency of the cloud, reassures government customers. The appeal of an incremental move to the cloud is amplified by the power and reach of the SAP HANA platform, easily accessible to everyone starting at a base price with add-on options available as desired. Customers buy through a consumption model and can either implement end-to-end platform use cases or choose additional options as needed.

Our Public Services & Healthcare customers, who are rightfully cautious, can thus feel highly confident about maintaining control over operational, citizen, student and patient information. For that small proportion of data that is truly and utterly sensitive, on-premise is an option – and it can be ported to the vast volumes of information that best live, flexibly and portably, in the cloud. SAP also offers an unrivalled ability to host cloud data in a government’s preferred physical location. That is a significant factor for some customers. Ultimately, in every respect, they’re in the driver’s seat.

We’ll be kicking off our discussions in The Hague soon – but it’s not too late to register and join us to network, learn, and discuss what “your cloud, your way” means for customers in your specific market. Whether you’re based in Europe or will happen to be in the neighborhood, don’t miss this opportunity.
