Impressions from SAP TechEd Las Vegas 2012

The Portal team came back from SAP TechEd Las Vegas extremely “jet-lagged” and also extremely happy about a very successful event for our team. The Portal lectures and sessions were fully booked and we were very happy to see the great interest for the current SAP NetWeaver Portal version (7.3) and also for our new solution in the Portal portfolio: SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal. We’ve also witnessed a strong interest in mobility and much praise about our mobile capabilities. People were very knowledgeable about our solutions, so we enjoyed the active exchange with the SAP TechEd participants coming to our sessions or the pod, and the meetings with customers and partners.

Here some impressions:

Hands-on Session “Building their own sites with SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal”:

And from the pod:

We are looking forward to seeing you in Madrid in two weeks.

Very good summary and especially good to see that SAP Portal is getting better and better (after its hibernation for few years between 7.0 and 7.3) thanks a lot, please keep it like that.

Could you please motivate the Web Dynpro (abap) team to start supporting iPad/iPhone (or rather iOS Safary)?

Easy to imagine a 7.3 SP8+ (or 7.31 SP5+) Portal working well on iPad with ESS/MSS EHP6 WDA in it which does not work! According to me ESS/MSS is still (one of) the best reason to use SAP Portal.

WDA renders already very well, but dropdown and table scrolling do not work at all on iPad. Two very important and, in fact, blocking issues but should be easy to fix.

FYI, SAPUI5 dropdown works well on iPad, you might can reuse the JS from there.

Btw, could you please quickly summarize the difference between 7.3 and 7.31?

      Thanks a lot in advance,
