This blog intends to share a few insights related to SAP Business ByDesign (ByD), aiming to cultivate understanding of its journey as a Cloud ERP product for the SME market. Furthermore, it offers an opportunity for partners who were unable to attend the event in Madrid to gain full access to the presentation on Product Updates and Outlook recently posted on Partner Edge (user access required).
I was pleasantly surprised by the high number of participants at the on-site session on day 1, which was further complemented by the keynote session on day 2 led by Rainer Zinow and Jan Patrzalek. The audience's enthusiastic applause during the keynote session underscored the significance of SAP ByD's fundamental messages regarding roadmap, infrastructure, and engineering.
The presentations and conversations at the exhibition area with partners and SAP colleagues added depth to the guidance previously shared in the ByD Community blog earlier in the year, further enhancing the messages conveyed through YouTube videos. Notably, discussions revolved around the topic of GEN AI based on Mywave.ai technology, presented at the SAP Partner Summit for SME. There were also numerous calls for increased visibility on SAP ByD topics within the ecosystem.
The event marked my first hands-on experience and executive interaction regarding GEN AI, bridging providers like Mywave.ai (represented by Geraldine McBride, CEO) and key partners within the ByD ecosystem possessing deep knowledge of Cloud ERP. Conversations delved into questions such as: What are the market expectations regarding Gen AI? Is it realistic for SMEs to leverage such technology? How seamless would it be to integrate Gen AI with ByD's existing openness and integration options?
The palpable energy was evident in many partner meetings where options to apply GEN AI technology in conjunction with SAP ByD were visualized. The application of this new technology appears to be a "game changer" that our ByD ecosystem is poised to fully capitalize on, positioning us as frontrunners even when SAP ByD is not the top priority Cloud ERP for the upper mid-market. I felt latest thoughts from Christian Klein (SAP CEO) “there will come a time when all our end users work with a digital assistant with human natural language” may become a reality very quick into SAP SME market.
