SAP Cloud Connector

Serves as a link between SAP BTP applications and on-premise systems.
It can connect Cloud to On-Premise and On-premise to Cloud.

SAP Cloud ALM

SAP Cloud ALM provides Landscape Management Services which is an application that allows the connection of Supported Cloud Services and On Premise Systems to support the various use cases that SAP Cloud ALM provides. This is the list of Supported Solutions, which is continuously updated and the setup and configuration of those systems can be found in the SAP Cloud ALM for Operations Expert under Setup Managed Components (Services & Systems).

There are 3 type of Connections possible in SAP Cloud ALM Landscape Management.

  1. Subscribed
  2. Registered
  3. Manual

Subscribed are Subscription Cloud Services that can be read automatically from the SAP Support Backbone via a job called SLIS.

Registered are Cloud Services or On-Premise Systems that will have a registration Program/Setup that is performed from the Managed Service or System. Some examples are for On-Premise ABAP systems like SAP Business Suite or S/4HANA On-Premise use a program “/SDF/CALM_SETUP, S/4HANA Cloud uses a defined Communication System and a specific Communication Arrangement Template, while SuccessFactors uses the Integration Service Registration Center, and selectn SAP Cloud ALM.

Manual are for very specific use cases where the service is not subscribed or can it be registered.
Currently there are only 3 Manual type of connections and all of them require SAP Cloud Connector.

1) SAP Cloud Connector can be connected to SAP Cloud ALM and there is one use case. Health Monitoring. Setup for that is found here.

2) SAP Process Integration (Java) can be connected to SAP Cloud ALM. The Cloud Connector is used because this on-premise system type does not have ST-PI as ABAP on-premise systems do, si it is used to collect the data. The setup for an SAP PI Java system is here.

3) SAP Focused Run can use SAP Cloud connector as a reverse proxy. In this solution SAP Cloud ALM together with an Cloud Connector act as reverse proxy for SAP Focused Run and allow a secure transfer of pushed monitoring data to SAP Focused Run. The setup for this can be found here.

These 3 use cases are the only use cases for SAP Cloud Connector. No other system/service can be connected to SAP Cloud ALM via SAP Cloud Connector (SCC). If you try to use SCC to connect any other System or Service it will not be successful. Again, the setup for supported Services and Systems can be found here.
