Welcome to our blog on the release highlights of SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning 2405. In this release, we've introduced several enhancements and new features that will greatly benefit you. Let's dive into the details.

Sample Planning Area SAPIBP1:

The SAPIBP1 sample planning area has undergone some exciting enhancements.

  • We've added slow-moving indicator key figures, which are calculated by dividing the total future consumption quantity by the initial stock quantity. With the slow-Moving Indicator key figure, you can monitor and make time-dependent investigations of the slow or non-moving products in your stock.
This functionality will provide valuable insights into slow-moving items and help planners make informed decisions.
  • We have also simplified the STDDEVACTUALSQTY calculation using the IBP_ADD_TIME_DIMENSION function.
  • We've added a new key figure called FOOTPRINTSUPPLIERPERUNIT, which captures the footprint, for example for a raw material per supplier and plant.
  • We've enhanced the BestFit forecast models with the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGB) forecast algorithm. XGB is an ensemble machine learning algorithm that allows demand planners to make better predictions and decisions, for example, in forecasting sales or identifying problem areas in inventory or delivery.

You can find all changes on sample planning area SAPIBP1 and the details behind them here

Inventory Optimization

Moving on to the solution process for IBP inventory (11Z), we've made some important improvements.

  • Supply lead time prediction has been added, providing users with a better understanding into actual lead times and enabling them to optimize their inventory management.
  • We have also introduced a preconfigured analytics story specifically designed for inventory planners. This story will provide them with comprehensive analytics and visualizations to make informed decisions. It helps the planner to validate inputs for inventory operators, to analyze results after running inventory operators and to review final inventory plans.
To support theses processes, the following pages are available in the story:
    • Overview, which allows you to review results of inventory planning runs, such as the costs of safety stock and distribution. You can also use filters on this page to focus these metrics on particular location products.
    • Inventory Health, which allows you to identify slow-moving stock at location products, as well as to group and compare stock based on consumption rate
    • Safety Stock Drivers, which allows you to review the amount of safety stock allocated to location products to cover variability in demand, service, and supply.
    • Forecast Accuracy, which allows you to evaluate forecasting accuracy, demand variability, and the safety stock for covering forecast uncertainty.
    • Lead Time Quality, which allows you to evaluate production and transportation lead times, lead time variability, and parameters for reviewing and replenishing stock.
    • Scenario Analysis, which allows you to run scenarios and simulations for evaluating how adjustments to target service levels impact safety stock.
    • Inventory Leverage, which allows you to run scenarios and simulations for evaluating how changes to inventory holding cost rate impact safety stock costs and service levels.
    • Safety Stock Review, which allows you to review and compare how safety stock recommendations at location products have changed between the previous planning run and the current planning run.

  • Another enhancement in the IBP for inventory solution process is the inclusion of a slow-moving indicator. This will help users identify slow-moving items and take appropriate actions to optimize their inventory.

In the solution process IBP inventory - scenario planning (4YI), we have introduced an additional scenario to simulate the impact of adjusting the inventory holding cost rate. This will enable users to evaluate different cost scenarios and make the right decisions regarding inventory management.

Extended Planning and Analysis (xP&A)

We are also excited to introduce a new document xP&A tips and tricks. This document provides detailed information on model enhancements, configurations, and business process steps required to run Commercial Planning and Consensus Net Revenue Planning integrated with SAP Integrated Business Planning. The process leverages SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Integrated Business Planning, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP Cloud Integration. This holistic approach allows multiple lines of business, including Finance, Commercial, and Supply Chain, to collaborate effectively.
