SAP NetWeaver Portal Upgrade: Error in Post Procesing stage of upgrade 7.31 java only

Hi Experts,

I am currently in a phase of post processing step of SAP NW Upgrade to 7.3 EHP1, Java only system,

I am getting the below error, in delete shadow schema step.

DROP-SHADOW-SCHEMA_39.LOG in /usr/sap/EQ1/SUM/sdt/log/SWITCH

An error has occurred during the execution of the Delete shadow schema  step with action post-execute. Service com.sap.sdt.j2ee.services.servicesimpl.DMTService failed

with the following message:

java.lang.NullPointerException

The SUM screen is showing as "null".

Upgrade has been stuck in that phase. Manually deleted the shadow schema and continued. Still the same error persisits.

Can anybody assist on this, out to get out of this and proceed.

Have you checked the database logs?

Hi Daniel,

I have dropped the shadow schema manually through sqlplus.

And i am not sure, which logs needs to be checked @ database level. Kindly suggest.

I'd check the alert_<SID>.log first. Is the phase continuing after manual dropping the schema?

I alert log i didnt find any errors,

Also, after dropping the shadow instance, i didnt find any improvement in the upgrade process. The same error is repeating.
