SAP HANA Migration: from Suse to Red hat?

Hello,

We would like to perform an SAP HANA Migration (HANA Plaform 2.0 SPS05 Rev57).

The current landscape is running on:
-> HP-Appliance with SUSE 12 SP04
The future landscape will be running on
-> VM-Ware 6.7 with Red Hat.

My question is:
Can I perform an homogeneous migration backing up the HANA DB running on Suse (appliance) and restoring it on RedHat (vm-ware)?

Dear customer,

HANA Backup does not make any difference between Suse or Red Hat, but important is, that you stay in the same architecture e.g. x86 to x86 or powerpc to powerpc.

>>><<<
1. System Copy/ Homogeneous Copy

It is used to setup a system similar to a PRD, QAS etc.
i.e. the system is completely build from OS, Database and R3 without changing OS or DB.

2. Heterogeneous Copy

When ever there is a change in OS or DB then it is said to be heterogeneous.
>>><<<

In your case, it should be the Heterogeneous Copy.
