SAP HANA DB and SAP Netweaver on one VM

Hi,

is the deployment of a SAP HANADB and a SAP Intance (ASCS, PAS) on one VM supported?

On SAP note 1953429 - SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP on one Server is describe that both is supported on one server, but there is not describe it a server is mentioned as baremetal or VM-Server

Hi Rudolf,

just have a look at the deployment option of VMware in the best practice guide.

"It is also supported to run SAP HANA VMs next to non-SAP HANA VMs, such as vSphere management VMs or SAP application servers, when these VMs run on different CPU sockets, or when an SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver AS (ABAP or Java) run in one VM (see SAP notes 1953429 and 2043509)."

Hi Rudolf. There are no issues that I have seen or read about with this "all in one" deployment in a VM. I am aware of this configuration being deployed in VMs in production environments, and there has been no question of support. Also, the all in one HANA/ASCS deployment is not mentioned, and is not explicitly stated as unsupported, in the SAP on VMware vSphere section of the SAP Help Portal, here: https://help.sap.com/docs/SUPPORT_CONTENT/virtualization/3362185786.html.
