SAC Story Filters: Advanced Filtering with BW Live Data

Hello there,

I am searching for the possibility of advanced filtering with BW live models in the SAC - but I only can find this option in imported models but not with BW live models? (It's the same both with classic stories as well as optimised stories.)

In SAP help it seems as if it should work... or at least there is no exclusion defined for BW live models?

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_ANALYTICS_CLOUD/00f68c2e08b941f081002fd3691d86a7/90c10b3bc47944f39cdaa...

Thanks and best regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

It's not about  classic stories or optimized stories! I don't think Advanced Filtering works with Live Data Models. It works only for Import and Planning Data Models. Please check out:

Tuncay

Hello Tuncay, thanks a lot for your answer! 🙂 Do you know what SAP means with the sentence in the SAP note "Complex filter can be created by data points selsction in the widget." .... I do not understand what they want to tell us with that? Thank you very much!

Hello Martin, "widget" means any components which is either chart or table, etc. on the story.  "Complex filter" I think they meant Advanced Filtering. There are four different types of filters for SAC stories: Story- Filter, Page- Filter, Widget-Filter, Column- Filter. Please check out Filtering options in SAP Analytics Cloud Story Design by @Johann  and also How to Filter Data in Your Stories: SAP Analytics Cloud

Hello Tuncay, thanks for your further explanations and sources for filtering! 🙂 The thing I meant, how SAP thinks that a user can creat an advanced filter by clicking in the widgets? Certainly I can click on a data point of a bar chart e.g. and with linked analysis I also could create perhaps some more complex filters by that. But from my point of view I do not see a chance to create a filter by doing this with the complexity of a real advanced filter as it is possible with an import model.
