Question: DTP missing "Parallel" flag ?

Hi Guys

I have a question concerning the flag "Parallel extraction" in the DTP tab "Extraction".

When I create "the same" DTP in 2 different systems (Sandbox and Dev) the DTP does show the "Parallel extraction" checkbox in Sandbox but does not show in the Dev.

Background:

1. Sandbox is the a systemcopy of Production

2. I made a copy of "the same" cube on both system and created a new transformations on both systems

3. The source is a standard DSO

4. In sandbox the option is showing the dev the option is not showing.

Is there a system setting different or what am I missing?

System: 7.31 SP 11

Thanks again for your answer.

The thing is that its working on one SAP BW and not on the other with the SAME DSO, Cubes, Transformation and DTP.

It must have something to do with a system setting (SPRO or another configuration method )?

Are you facing this in one particular DTP or is it for other DTPs too?

also check the settings for BATCH MANAGER(under goto) of this DTP.

Thank you for your response.

It doesnt matter which DTP I choose.

Funny thing is:

1. Create new DTP on Development

2. Check DTP -> No parallel execution flag

3. Transport DTP to Production

4. Check DTP -> Parallel Execution Flag visible

Hope you understand my confusion

Any input appreciated although I believe I have to open an oss message.

Hi Andreas,

Can you check the SAP note: 1570910 - Parallel extraction from the standard DSO .

This might be for an older SP11 as opposed to your system but this have some settings in the tables.

Can you confirm that these settings are same in your Production and Dev systems?

These will activate parallel extraction for all DSO globally in your system.

Funny thing that the parameter W_O_PARALLEL_EXTRACTION was set to 2 in Development.

Since the deletion (Standard would be 3) everything works fine.

Can you check the processing mode in table RSBKDTP for the given dtp in both systems. If you create a new dtp for the give source & target, does it show parallel processing box?

Parallel Extraction can see only if below conditions satisfy.

The source of the DTP supports parallel extraction.

Error handling is deactivated.

The list for creating semantic groups in DTPs and transformations is empty.

The Parallel Extraction field is selected.

Please check.

As I mentioned before:

The DSO, the Cube and the transformation are identical on both systems.

There is no difference ...

Sandbox the check box is showing

Development the checkbox is not showing :S

Hello Andreas,

How many background processes are available in your Dev system..

you can not have parallel executoin in DEV system(this is my guess) because you dont have that many WPs available. Dev system is anyways not supposed to have high volume of data.

I compared the no of batch processes - sandbox - dev - prod -> All the same (8 BTC)

This cant be the problem altough it sounds very accurate.
